So I was gone over the Holiday and so I shut off all the water shut off valves. I could have just shut the 1 main value into the house, but there was someone in the basement.

As I turned all the shut off valves on, I notice some water in one of the bathroom sinks, under the sink. The shut off valves were the origional from 25 years ago so I replaced them all.

Everything worked out ok except for 1 sink. I put new shut off valves on, I put new SS hoses on. With the hose unhooked from the facuett and that end into a bucket I turned the shut of valve on and I get lots of good water pressure from both the hot and cold.

After I hooked the hoses to the facuett, I checked for leaks and none to be found.

But when I turn eithor or both the hot and/or cold water, all I get is a very very very small stream of water from the facuett. I've never experienced this before, I've had leaky faucets and eithor fix or replaced the fasuett, but how can a faucett go bad like this?

Sounds like you got some build up in the screen at the end of the faucet, Have to clean mine out every 6 months or so due to our hard water with lots of lime.

Yepper. Most likely broke some stuff loose while working the valve that clogged the aerator and/or screen.

If you clean it and that don't do it for ya, you may have overtightened the supply lines. The rubber seals at the ends of the stainless supply lines don't have to be very tight to seal, and can expand inward, reducing the inside diameter if overtightened.

Probably the aerator though.

I took the screen apart and found some black rubber pieces. Cleaned it and put it all back together, and worked great.

I took a look at the shut off valve and saw that the inner black seal was all twisted and looked like it was breaking up into pieces.

Thanks for all your help...

Both of the ideas ...hose end to tight...but I think the screen is clogged. Clean the screen first...good luck....

Phew,,, when I started reading this I thought it was gonna turn into another - why Puc hates plumbing threads.. ANYTIME I fool with plumbing I end up rebuilding the whole system,, starts with me replacing a valve under a sink only to discover I caused a leak 2 and miles away by doing so... :(

Glad this one worked out as well as it did!!!:cool10:

Here's an old plumbers trick I have found to work great.....Before ya re-connect the water lines put a light coating of Vaseline on the black rubber seal part....Now ya don't have to over-tighten de connection when ya put it back together.:cool10:

Boomer....who sez ya don't need running water when ya have a good old outhouse wit a deep hole underneath...:whistling:
