Instrument Cluster part?

Hello, Does anyone have or know of a supplier for the rubber boot that covers the trip odometer for the early Ventures. The square boot that appears to be damaged in most photos I've seen of Ventures that are being sold. I'd like to purchase a couple of them while I have my instrument cluster off my bike.

as far as I know they are not available from anyone outside of Yamaha and I don't think they have them either. Go to Bike bandit and look at their parts fiche, that will tell you if Yamaha has any.

From my experience you are not going to find anything from Yamaha or aftermarket parts. It was long ago only available in the entire assembly only.

 

Even most the dash assemblies i found on eBay and the like were missing that switch cover.

 

What i ended up doing was using an old rubber switch cover from a old flashlight that i stripped out that "almost" fit the hole (round cover/ square hole) and used silicon sealer to attach it. Lasted about a season until it got cold.

 

I've seen some marine quality push button switches that have rubber boots on them that may have possibilities for future replacements.

 

Always got to keep an open mind when working on these old girls.
