Keysyrider Posted December 16, 2013 #1 Posted December 16, 2013 Where do I access the bolts to take the riders seat off my 2013 Venture S?
SilvrT Posted December 16, 2013 #2 Posted December 16, 2013 Just underneath the left and right side of the seat you will see two nuts (one on either side). You have to remove the two on top of the seat first in order to stoop down to see them...
Kirby Posted December 16, 2013 #3 Posted December 16, 2013 Two nuts on front underside of seat near frame.
bongobobny Posted December 16, 2013 #4 Posted December 16, 2013 10mm, deep well socket helps, but use 1/4" drive...
awsmsrv Posted December 16, 2013 #5 Posted December 16, 2013 10mm, deep well socket helps, but use 1/4" drive... ...& then replace them with nylon wing nuts. They'll self-tap. Then no tools necessary.
StarFan Posted December 16, 2013 #6 Posted December 16, 2013 Be careful when lifting the seat off since the seat has to move a little front to unhook in the back. Seen to many scratches on the tank when people have accidentally moved the seat to much forward and scraped the tank with the bolts that are sticking down from underneath the seat - at least that is how it is with the Corbin seats on the Venture. Not sure about the original Yamaha seat though - but just in case be careful !
Keysyrider Posted December 16, 2013 Author #7 Posted December 16, 2013 Got it. Of course I dropped the first one down inside that maize and can't find it now even with a magnet. I'll tray again later when I regain my patience. Got the rear of the bike suspended from the ceiling joists and removed the back wheel and took out the final drive. Going to get the gearing change done on my way back from Florida after New Years. Didn't realize that I ad to remove both saddlebags and both muffler just to be able to pull the axle out. Oh well, it's still not as bad as a Gold Wing to work on. Thanks for the advice guys.
RedRider Posted December 17, 2013 #8 Posted December 17, 2013 Assuming it is the same as my 2000, the nuts aren't steel. Magnet won't help. As mentioned above, replace with nylon wing nuts. RR
kevin-vic-b.c. Posted December 17, 2013 #9 Posted December 17, 2013 A GOOFY question..... he sure new where to ask it didn't he!
djh3 Posted December 17, 2013 #10 Posted December 17, 2013 Didnt get here fast enough to get an answer in. You have to remove the big nut in the middle of the seat behind the handlebars first.

Sort of reminds me of an old saying: "They'd replace you with a machine--but they haven't invented a machine that does nothing yet! Appreciate the humour though.

wannarsv Posted December 17, 2013 #13 Posted December 17, 2013 I thought He was going to ask a question about Disney World!
Rick Haywood Posted December 17, 2013 #14 Posted December 17, 2013 I use 1/4 inch fuel line as the nuts. It will thread on tight and if you make it about 1 inch long it is easy to twist on and off. You can not see it and it solved my problem of dropping the nut down inside the bike.
djh3 Posted December 17, 2013 #15 Posted December 17, 2013 Yea I know but thats what happens when your board I guess. So far I have managed to keep track of the nuts for mine. But it aint been easy. I like the drawer knob idea thats pretty cool. Have also thought about the wing nut. I dont often need to get under the seat but, when I do you allways seem to fight the nut and being ably to turn it in such a tight area.
