gez Posted December 9, 2013 #1 Posted December 9, 2013 I live where I live. https://scontent-b-mia.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/p480x480/1488075_603047846428007_1663181375_n.jpg Truthfully, there are other reasons.
Black Owl Posted December 9, 2013 #2 Posted December 9, 2013 My condolences to you and your family. You will never know the peace and serenity of white out condition solitude in the great frozen wastes of flyover land.
wrenchrob Posted December 9, 2013 #4 Posted December 9, 2013 I am really starting to dislike this cold snowy weather!!!!
bill in mn Posted December 10, 2013 #5 Posted December 10, 2013 Ouch ... -4 here and there are no bugs either
mraf Posted December 10, 2013 #6 Posted December 10, 2013 Ouch ... -4 here and there are no bugs either :rotfl: Seriously? With all them bugs around I bet you pull their wings off. Just to be mean. Thats "why".
Evan Posted December 10, 2013 #7 Posted December 10, 2013 OK, I'll bite on this one. I live in the heart of downtown Toronto, which is now the 4th largest city on North America. Nobody in my family, including myself, ever thought I would move to this city, let alone survive here. If not for my second wife, I would never have moved here. Now, my challenge is to describe to others why I think I am such a lucky guy to be here. It does feel good inside when I arrive at my cabin on the lake but it feels equally good in a different way when I arrive back here in Toronto.
Venturous Randy Posted December 10, 2013 #8 Posted December 10, 2013 Speaking of bugs and cold, some of the places I have been up north that gets really cold has some of the worst bugs. RandyA
djh3 Posted December 10, 2013 #9 Posted December 10, 2013 I was held captive by uncle sam for 20yr in southwest Oklahoma. The weather there in the winter just is brutal. 10-20 mph wind right at freezing and nasty. So when I got out I headed back to Fla where I spent most of my childhood. I spent all day today trimming and bundleing brush trimmings. I sweat my butt off. But its way way better than shoveling snow.
mraf Posted December 10, 2013 #10 Posted December 10, 2013 Speaking of bugs and cold, some of the places I have been up north that gets really cold has some of the worst bugs. RandyA Black flies, horse flies, deer flies, West Nile mosquitoes. Them bugs? You can usually kill'em if your fast enough. But them NO-SEE-EM bugs down south you can't get rid of. Don't even talk about the Fire ants down there either. Our ants just steal your food yours do that and add injury to insult.
Bob Myers Posted December 10, 2013 #11 Posted December 10, 2013 Even Phoenix Az is under a freeze warning for the night. Lots of folks out there don't even have heat in their house!
mini-muffin Posted December 10, 2013 #12 Posted December 10, 2013 From the weather reports I've seen TX is frozen over. IT was foggy and a bit drizzly today here. Margaret
SummerBreeze Posted December 10, 2013 #13 Posted December 10, 2013 Went out today in a 78 degree cold front. I can kill bugs as long as I'm not to cold or to frozen to swing at them. Spent some time in Alaska back during Army hitch I am glad to say I will never have to go where it gets cold again unless I chose to.
bongobobny Posted December 10, 2013 #14 Posted December 10, 2013 Hey Gez, just remember, what goes around, comes around!! Let's talk in August...
djh3 Posted December 10, 2013 #15 Posted December 10, 2013 Yea Bob you may have a point there. But I can sit by the pool with a cold beverage alot easier than freez my butt shoveling snow. Or just take a nice few days to the mountians and ride. Its only a 600 or so mile trip up.
KIC Posted December 10, 2013 #16 Posted December 10, 2013 Tucson, it's a dry heat, Arizona will hit a cold 29 degrees tonight, but we will hit 61 tomorrow and 72 on Wednesday. Guess we will just have to live with the cold snap.
Brake Pad Posted December 10, 2013 #17 Posted December 10, 2013 the problem with people in south florida is, they get used to the a/c running all the time. I never run my a/c while in my truck, I just open the windows. even if its in the 90's, for me I work outside all the time, so i have accumulated to the weather. I live in 80% humidity all the time, so when I ride north, and the air is dry, or low humidity, 65 is chilly for me today's temps, high in the 80's it's a short & Tee-shirt day again:thumbsup2:
gez Posted December 10, 2013 Author #18 Posted December 10, 2013 Hey Gez, just remember, what goes around, comes around!! Let's talk in August... I lived in the Hudson Valley of NY until 1992. I know and rode in all kinds of weather, shoveled and plowed my share of snow. My Loudon, Americade and Pocono tee shirts are long gone. You're right you can get even in July and August, it is uncomfortably warm on a motorcycle.
Marcarl Posted December 10, 2013 #19 Posted December 10, 2013 Absence makes the heart grow fonder,,,, that's my line and I'm sticking to it, so we get to enjoy our rides more than some others!!!!! SO THERE!!!!!
gez Posted December 10, 2013 Author #20 Posted December 10, 2013 My local newscaster just stated that today is "National Hate Florida Day"
Trader Posted December 10, 2013 #21 Posted December 10, 2013 I was held captive by uncle sam for 20yr in southwest Oklahoma. Should have been 30 yrs but he got time off for good behavior.
Dragonslayer Posted December 10, 2013 #22 Posted December 10, 2013 I might agree and move down your way if the riding roads were a little more interesting in your part of the world.
djh3 Posted December 11, 2013 #23 Posted December 11, 2013 Ah there is some good roads. you just have to go find them I supose just like anywhere. Like most states your usually well of on Us highways and state roads. I can make it completly across the state and not be on a 4 lane highway.
baylensman Posted December 11, 2013 #24 Posted December 11, 2013 but i love the snow! Cross country skiing, trap lines ice skating yes I did move to florida 30 years ago, but I fly north whenever i wish to indulge in winter sports. So far that's been exactly Zero times, but the option is there.
