Bert2006 Posted December 9, 2013 #3 Posted December 9, 2013 $700 when you factor in taxes is way to expensive for that unit.
XV1100SE Posted December 10, 2013 Author #4 Posted December 10, 2013 $700 when you factor in taxes is way to expensive for that unit. I paid $600 CDN for my Zumo 660 and then had to buy lifetime maps on top of it ($90 CDN). If it has the same functions PLUS of the Zumo 660 then it is comparable in price. For some getting a $50 gps on the bike is fine. I like the idea that the Zumo's are waterproof and you don't have to stop and cover it if it starts raining. I'm not saying that the price is reasonable....$700 is a lot even if you can mount it in your car or bike and comes with both mounts. I wish the price were 1/2 what it is.
Yammer Dan Posted December 10, 2013 #5 Posted December 10, 2013 700 bucks?? I'll have to stick with my paper map!!
djh3 Posted December 11, 2013 #6 Posted December 11, 2013 OUCH I wont even spend the money for the plastic covered maps. I haven updated my GPS since I got it about 3yr ago. Have there been new roads built? As far as the route you thru the twisties part, well most of the time here in Fla that would be wasted. Kind of like trying to find trees and hills in western Oklahoma.
RedRider Posted December 11, 2013 #7 Posted December 11, 2013 The TPMS system is a really handy feature. With the 665 had it. Oh well. The 550 had done me well for 5 or 6 years. Will keep it around for a couple more. RR
Wizard765 Posted December 11, 2013 #8 Posted December 11, 2013 if garmin wanted to a simple update would give the existing 660 and 665 owners the same route options (ie twisties) It would be the best update I can think of.. On my iPhone I have a TomTom app that turns my phone into a full featured GPS.. about a year ago I got an automatic update. After the update a new choice in route options was available. Winding Roads and then Maximum, Medium, Minimum.. Amazing feature.. Problem is I use my Garmin 660 on the bike.. :-( Anyhow what I'm saying is I got that update for free and I'm very happy with what it does. Garmin could do the same thing and make a lot of people happy..
kevin-vic-b.c. Posted December 11, 2013 #9 Posted December 11, 2013 I will admit my $99 nuvi works well and has so far survived a few good rain storms. $700 sounds like a lot but that is what I paid for my bicycle headlight,to see where I am going not to be told where go....... If you use it enough then ok. I do like to get lost on my motorcycles often tho.
