Snaggletooth Posted December 3, 2013 Share #1 Posted December 3, 2013 OK. I've avoided the FB movement for years. I finally broke down and signed up on my android cell on the providers app. Found a few of the crowd here and even had some old friends contact me. Everything was working fine. So last night i go to sign on (using the proper email address and correct password) and get the message "error occurred during sign in. Please try later." Well that was 24 hours ago and still getting the same error message. If this common stuff or not? Any suggestions? Thanks Mike From my Droid wherever I may happen to be at any given moment. Snaggletooth Posted December 3, 2013 Author Share #3 Posted December 3, 2013 Might add i just noticed this. In the settings for sync before i had the error problem when i opened the synce control it showed my email account and Utube along with the FB account. Now the FB don't show. So i tried to open a new sync account for FB using the same email and password and get the same error message. Kinda odd. From my Droid wherever I may happen to be at any given moment. cowpuc Posted December 3, 2013 Share #4 Posted December 3, 2013 I have gotten simular messages when my wireless modem is acting up, weak signal and all that.. I have also gotten messages like that when I had "noise" on the line servicing the modem (after it rains)..
syscrusher Posted December 3, 2013 Share #5 Posted December 3, 2013 Cut your losses and hope that FB don't know you no more. Fadebook is evil, none for me, thank you. As long as I can still buy groceries, gas, and MC parts without a Fadebook account, I'm happy.
Snaggletooth Posted December 3, 2013 Author Share #6 Posted December 3, 2013 Can't argue there crusher. Never felt the need for it either before. But the situation I've been in recently made the need for a contact point common to about everyone pretty attractive. Oddly enough shortly after posting my question here yesterday i got a message notification from FB explaining that my account was suspected as a fake. I was given steps to verify who i was . After doing that i was able to log in normally. The same few members from here and one old friend of mine still showed. Until this morning. Same error again. Grrrrr. So much for a free and simple contact point. So to the VR members who have posted me on FB thanks. But i guess I'm done with FB. Not bad. About 72 hours before they ticked me off. No "Like" button for them today. LOL. From my Droid wherever I may happen to be at any given moment.

djh3 Posted December 3, 2013 Share #8 Posted December 3, 2013 The premis of it is cool. But all the electronic tracking etc is not for me. I dont understand these folks that think the whole world needs to know what and where they are doing. Thieves like it though. It has also caused some major family isuues and troubles. Things someone post on there they didnt tell someone else about or didnt tell them first yada yada. I dont think youll miss it much.
Bubber Posted December 3, 2013 Share #9 Posted December 3, 2013 Falls under "useless piece of crap" in my book. But then again each to their own, just not for me.
dna9656 Posted December 3, 2013 Share #10 Posted December 3, 2013 I was on it for a while, with no apparent results, stopped and had second thoughts. Boy am I glad my wife isn't the jealousy type! A girl friend from long ago contacted me. We text, mostly about her old man because his health is in the tank. That's as far as it goes, besides she lives across the country. I also get bogus mail that's supposed to be from people on my friend list but it's scammers and spammers.
Venturous Randy Posted December 3, 2013 Share #11 Posted December 3, 2013 A while back we had a double murder here in Mountain City, TN, the most north east town in the state. It all started because a couple "defriended" this man's adult daughter and he and another guy broke into their house and executed them. He was just convicted of murder and his wife, the daughter and the other guy are also awaiting trial for murder and conspiracy for murder. These idiots did not realize that everything they were doing online was monitored and used against them in court. This story made national news and was dubbed "The Facebook Murders". This is what you get into with dealing with so many crazy people out there. Personally, I have never been on FB and don't intend to, but to some people, their whole lives evolve around Facebook. SilvrT Posted December 4, 2013 Share #13 Posted December 4, 2013 (edited) Facebook allows me to communicate (for free) with family and friends who are in far away places. When I post things on FB, I can choose who sees what. I can also choose who can see my info. Those who have issues with FB probably have not set up these "protections". Don't get me wrong tho ... I am not a FB fanatic like a lot of folk are but I do find it useful at times. btw, you can search for (and find) me on FB .... you will not see much.
