after having my 05 RSTD for about a week I just realized my bike doesn't have the exhaust tips ! I guess I'm kinda of slow:rotf: lol.......does any one have any info on where to get one set could be used, if they come with the screws or what size are they etc etc

my bike backfires a little when I decelerated this might take care of that:fingers-crossed-emo

if not it might be a little on the lean side.

thanks and I really enjoy and learn a lot with this forum

Dont know if its exactly correct but should be something like Air Injection System. It blows clean air up the EPA's exhaust so it will read cleaner on thier meter. Sort of. It injects air into the exhaust to suposedly help it "finnish burning" the gas on the way out. If your over Lauderdale way get with Brake Pad he might have a sync. If not I got one. WE have a meet n eat comming up soon.

thank you guys I was just getting the info about AIS so all our bikes have it or just the Californians?

when I was going to pick up my bike had had some carburetor issues and had to wait a few days so they took care of it and supposedly clean and sync the carburetors, the bike runs fine to me, it might be on the lean side but then I have never ridden a RSTD before so I don't really know if it is as it's best ...............

and also I want to apologized if you don't understand my mumble jumble but living in southern California and south Florida now, didn't get much of a chance to learn English lol

and yes I will love to see how to sync the carburetors and later I will buy the tool .........but my last carbureted bike was a 79 CB 750 I had in the early 90's

All 'royal stars' have it I'm pretty sure.

Crazy gaucho ,

If you do indeed decide to partake in dec 7 meet and greet in lake okeechobee, I will be more than happy to sync the carbs for you. I learned from Steve K and I have the CarbTune pro. It'll take 10-15 minutes. Just let me know, so I can bring it...

They are just decorative tips. Two M6 screws hold them on.

Either synch the carbs or get rid of AIS.

yesterday got 4 M6 screws just to plug the holes until I get new tips, and I think the backfiring it has been reduced (wishful thinking???) although some remain

probably was sucking some cold air through those holes during desacelaration. thanks again and looking forward to meet on 12/7

hi,

Thought I'd jump into this conversation.

I have purchased a pair of OEM Royal Star exhaust tips from Partzilla.com

Attached are two photos; one of the end of the muffler and the other of the tip over the tube exiting from the muffler.

All the reviews I have read indicate that to put these tips on a OEM muffler is more or less "plug 'n' play"

As can be seen by photo 1 these is a plate labelled "A" that seems to have been pushed in then welded; the weld is above "B"

I have used a vernier gauge and it seems the tip would fit into the muffler if the plate wasn't there. See photo 2 to see how far the tip needs to go in.

The muffler is marked Yamaha 5JC-2 with E13 in both a rectangle and a circle. I am assuming this is a part original to the bike.

I need some help from anyone who has had this situation.

Should I remove the weld and then see how far I can push the plate into the muffler?

Would I then drill the two holes in the plate and weld two nuts behind the plate for the bolts to locate to.

Any help from anyone who has resolved a similar problem will be appreciated.

Cheers,

Dion

The mufflers for the Tour Deluxe have nut plates or clinch nuts mounted in the end to accept the screws used to secure the cone tips. The tips are pretty heavy and I do not think the thickness of the material inside the Venture muffler end cap is robust enough hold the tips on for very long. Sheet metal type screws probably would not work, the muffler cap material would likely fatigue in a short time.
