Sailor Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 Just picked up a hot rod magazine. There is a 31 ford with an unusual engine. It is an all aluminum 244 ci hemi v8 built by Yamaha in 1965. Wonder if you could fit it into the V Max or Venture?
autopilot Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 Don't know why not. They put a killer V-6 in the SHO Taurus. Don't recall the displacement, but as I recall it wasn't big. I test drove one with a stick shift. The sales guy made the mistake of saying yes when I asked if I could see what it had.........so I did! It made the neatest honking sound through the intake.....ahhhhhh!
Sailor Posted February 29, 2008 Author Posted February 29, 2008 The Jaguar 220 did 220 mph with a twin turbo 6
autopilot Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 When they get the site back up from an overhaul they're doing you can go look up the Drysdale Motorcycle Co. in Australia. They sell a v-8 bike for about $37,000. Primarily a racer though. Here's a sound byte....doesn't really tell much just blippin the throttle. I have a different file I'll try to post if I can convert it from wav to mp3.

It made the neatest honking sound through the intake.....ahhhhhh! that engine in the sho taurus looks just like a v max engine from the top. i tried to find one back then to build a motorcycle around ,but the engines out of the car were scarce. and the transmission and clutch would have been a major issue. a friend of mine and i just designed and built a billet aluminum four speed with dry clutch, and belt primary drive, that would work great with that svo engine. if i had more time i would build a bike with the svo engine. the transmissions are available if anyone wants to build one . i just built a scooter with one in it for a prototype.worlds fastest and most expensive cushman eagle ever built. i also have a 1958, cushman eagle in my shop i am building with a 1953 crosely 4 cyl. overhead cam 750 cc inline watercooled engine in it with automatic variable drive transmission. any cushman people on here. i'll post the website if you want to see the one i built with the 4 speed. bill
skidrow Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 The Last Year Of The "sho" Taurus Had A 3.4liter V8 In It. That Might Be A Good One To Put On Two Wheels.
KiteSquid Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 Transmission????? IF you have enough torque, you need fewer gears..... look at the boss hoss for ideas...
autopilot Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 ooooh, Skid, I like the way you think. I got a couple 164 ci Corvair flat 6, air-cooled, aluminum motors sitting around. I always had an Idea in the back of my mind to plant one in a bike. Bring on Tim "the toolman", more power, Taylor. Honest Charley's (of hot Rod fame) builds & sells a 2.2 liter Flathead Ford v-8 powered bike. Style's a bit old school for my liking, but ya gotta love the flathead!!
