My grandson did buy the 83 Venture from Steve Neal (SGN) so we are officially a three generation family with me having an 83 and 85VR and my son Brian having an 86 VR and Shane now having an 83 VR. Do we have any other three generations on here with Ventures?

I am really looking forward to spring so we can go riding together.

Glad he finally got off the crotch rocket. I'm guessing the leg was a complete heal?

You three can now start your own "Tri Cities Gang"!

Thanks puc, I do feel lucky to now have him interested in a Venture and not another crotch rocket. We have always been a mechanical family and enjoy working on things together. I am hoping that by spring we will all have our bikes in good order and can enjoy going places together.

I wanted to show him some pictures of your bike, especially all loaded up, but I did not find any good ones. If you could post some more, I would appreciate it.

cabreco, He still has some strength issues with that leg, but it is getting better and I hope getting this bike will get him to do some more strength conditioning before spring.

He has already sent several hours out in the garage tinkering with it. Maybe before it is over with, I will have another Venture mechanic in the family.

Ask and you shall receive.. Tell Shane I said HI and congrats on his new bike!! That Blondie is a copy of my 1st Venture back in the 80's - kids and I crossed the country on it many many times, retired it at over 200,000 miles with tons of great FAMILY memories!! Matter of fact, the blonde side covers on our bike now are from that bike - sentimental ol Puc..

Hey Randy, brother to brother,, you been in this a long time too and probably already know this but the early models had a stator problem related to insuffecient oil cooling on the stator, the fix was a little splash plate.. I toasted a stator on my first one because I didnt know about it,,, something else to think about.. Also dont forget to check that water pump (remember that plastic junk impellar they put in em at first?)..

Glad your offspring are steering away from rockets, and hope the leg is at full strength by spring!! You guys have fun tinkering this winter, your raising em right Randy!
