Prairiehammer Posted November 21, 2013 #1 Posted November 21, 2013 Check out this homemade trailer. Be sure to look at the picture of the "monoshock" suspension and the associated fabrication. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Motorcycle-Pull-Behind-Trailer-No-Reserve-/121219431831?forcerrptr=true&hash=item1c393dbd97&item=121219431831&pt=Motors_Trailers
cowpuc Posted November 21, 2013 #2 Posted November 21, 2013 I welded pipe for the boilermakers back in my younger days and gotta say,, I sure dont like the looks of the welds I see in those pics.. Just from that alone I would say no, I wouldnt trust that one.. On the other hand, I am one who really apprectiates off the wall stuff and the wierdness of this trailer does have produce a draw to me,, kinda cool in a backyard kinda way!!
Guest tx2sturgis Posted November 21, 2013 #3 Posted November 21, 2013 Add a grate inside and a smokestack and you got yourself a mobile smoker there. Pull it around the yard, maybe.
Black Owl Posted November 21, 2013 #4 Posted November 21, 2013 Absolutely not. As Cowpuk said, the first thing that caught my attention was the quality of the welds. Not sure how long they would hold together.
Bert2006 Posted November 21, 2013 #5 Posted November 21, 2013 NOPE.......that is actually scary looking......whatever it is.......
Carbon_One Posted November 21, 2013 #6 Posted November 21, 2013 No way would I want that with the way those welds look either. Like cowpuc says the idea may be ok. Another thing is that it could be top heavy depending on what you put in it and on how wide the wheels are. For the cost you may still be better off getting a HF trailer and car top it. Larry
2WHEELSFORME Posted November 21, 2013 #8 Posted November 21, 2013 I would not pull that butt ugly thing even if the welds were perfect.
djh3 Posted November 21, 2013 #9 Posted November 21, 2013 Ah I have seen scary'r welds on roll cages on stock cars guys are relyin thier lifes on. They dont look good for sure. Neither do my wire feed welds anymore. Not sure what my stick welding looks like anymore either. Would I have ground them down and maybe layed another bead there to make myself feel better? You bet. Gets a B for idea and initiative I guess. Function I'm not so sure. I'm thinkin for the effort/dollar = the harbor freight deal wins.
greg_in_london Posted November 21, 2013 #10 Posted November 21, 2013 As people said, the welding didn't look that clever, but the absence of any attempt to prime and/or paint them worried me even more. I've looked at it a few times and can't quite visualise how that swingarm moves. It looks as if parts of the top and bottom are welded together, though that's probably just me.
Oldodge Posted November 21, 2013 #12 Posted November 21, 2013 I would pull it. With my garden tractor!
Brake Pad Posted November 22, 2013 #13 Posted November 22, 2013 Wait, I'm still laughing....... NO !!!!!
BradT Posted November 22, 2013 #14 Posted November 22, 2013 I would not pull that butt ugly thing even if the welds were perfect. HAHA exactly. Depends on stiffness of the shock looks like it might hop around the road like a jack rabbit if it stays together that long. Brad
AKRefugee Posted November 22, 2013 #15 Posted November 22, 2013 I'd pull it . . . Up into the bed of my pickem up truck to take it to the dump. Be to damned ashamed to take it to the metal recycle place. Ride Happy Ride Safe

Brad :rotf: With the thanks giving turkey thats being smoked inside it being bounced from shelf to shelf.. I would love to pull into Sturgis like this... Puc
SilvrT Posted November 22, 2013 #17 Posted November 22, 2013 If I made that contraption, I'd be embarrassed to let anyone know. What a POS IMO.
Marcarl Posted November 22, 2013 #18 Posted November 22, 2013 The welds don't even look good to me, and I'm a butcher!
Rick Haywood Posted November 22, 2013 #19 Posted November 22, 2013 To the dump .........Maybe:confused24:
Black Owl Posted November 22, 2013 #20 Posted November 22, 2013 The welds don't even look good to me, and I'm a butcher! So was the welder..... :rotfl:
Marcarl Posted November 22, 2013 #21 Posted November 22, 2013 So was the welder..... :rotfl: My point exactly!!!!
Trader Posted November 22, 2013 #22 Posted November 22, 2013 When I saw the Title of the thread I was expecting to see a picture of someone's finger!!!

Reminds me of a welder we had at work (looks about the same).
hell yea Posted November 23, 2013 #24 Posted November 23, 2013 orange county choppers is it one of there's perhaps :rotf::rotf:
Trader Posted November 23, 2013 #25 Posted November 23, 2013 Looks like the cooler rack was re-welded after it was painted...you can see the burnt area. If that's any indication of the strength of the other welds......
