I am looking at replacing my antennas with Firesticks. Can I simply unscrew the existing ones and replace with 2 foot sticks? Also what about the fm, what antenna do I use for that side. Its on a 2nd gen. Thanks in advance for any advice. :322:

Thanks for the link, I had read through it but still have a few questions. I sent an email to FireStik and will see what they say. :backinmyday: Here are the remaining questions in case anyone wants to take a stab at it:

I am looking at replacing my stock antennas on my 2006 Yamaha Royal Star Venture with Firestik – FireFly. I would have the following questions:

1. Can I simply change out the antenna and reuse the existing folding base and cable already on the bike? If not what are my options.

2. This bike has 2 antennas, CB on the left and an AM/FM on the right. It there a FireStik product that would match the FireFly that I can use for the AM/FM side?

You cannot just change out the antennas. The stock antennas do not use standard mounts. The fold down mounts will need to be replaced.

Firestik used to make an AM/FM antenna that looked like the CB antenna but it was actually wrapped in nylon line instead of copper wire. I am pretty sure that they discontinued that product. That's what is on the '99 that I sold to Yammer Dan.

Ok, thanks for that Freebird. :thumbsup2: Will drop that plan as I am not good with electronics and know nothing about CB's. Too bad, I really liked how those looked on your bike.....that Yammer Dan is now enjoying....

Yammer doesn't love the 2nd gen like you do, and he rides it less, knowing he will love it. That said, perhaps you can convince him to part w it...after all, no good just sitting in garage.
