hey guys,

I've seen some talk about this buddy rich cable and you guys connecting your cell to the garmin and have a few questions.

I have a garmin 1390 and a samsung convoy (flip phone). I play my music from an IPOD

connected to some rumble road amplified speakers.

Is there a way / cable to connect my nuvi and ipod together so an incoming phone call can come over my speakers? I'd have to rely on the Bluetooth mike on the Nuvi.

Thanks

Bob

Hmmm I'm going to say if your phone is bluetooth and the Nuvi is also then yes it will work. But will people be able to hear you and understand you at 40+ mph. Probably not. I have tried to use the mic on my Garmin 765t in the car and my b-inlaw has a hard time understanding.

I am not especialy gifted in the comm and bluetooth things but from what I understand this is my answer.

I have the Garmin Zumo 660 and use bluetooth to pair it with my Blackberry. I have the Buddy Rich cable to connect the Garmin to the bike.

When receiving a call (rarely place a call from the bike while moving) I use my J&M headsets in my full face helmet and have no problem hearing or being heard.

For music...I have an sd card loaded that I put in the Zumo. Don't recall if I've played music on my smartphone thru the Garmin to the bike's system using bluetooth.

I understand Bob that you probably have all your favorite music on your ipod. Nevertheless, what Don (XV1100SE) describes is similar to my setup with a few differences. I have an older Garmin Streetpilot (model c550) with a built in mp3 player plus Bluetooth and an sd card slot. I sure like it for the bike, and when ram mounted on the bars, the smaller screen size works really good, especially for a VR. I plug in with my J&M headsets, so I can run the GPS functions (GPS prompts, mp3 player, and phone) through the Venture system that includes CB and intercom, and I added a switch given to me by another member (Mother) so I can switch from radio to mp3 player through this system. One of the benefits is that my music will cut out whenever I use the intercom or CB, and I can listen clearly to cell phone calls through my headset. I have sent/received calls and had no problem doing so while on the highway (this GPS has a phone contact directory on the touchscreen). This works so well for me that I just bought two additional Streetpilot units (one for my second VR and a spare) in good working condition for under $40. The one downside compared to Don's Zumo is that my Streetpilot is not as waterproof, so in heavy rain, I try to remember to cover it with a clear plastic bag.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the replies. When I had my wing I rode with a full face and had everything hardwired with J&M. I had a Moterola Ultra Classic for a phone and had a buddy put audio in audio out jacks in the ultra classic and it was great.

Now with the RSTD I wear a half helmet....sometimes a novelty bucket and don't want to deal with the coil cord.

For music I'm set with the rumble road speakers.....and I'm not hot on music right into the ear....somehow I loose the "feel" of things. I don't even like them in the gym.

I'm gona try a few Bluetooth ear pieces and see what happens. I once had a Jabra that was pretty good.

I have to be available when someone calls and I'd love to use the bike even if only a day a week.

Thanks Again

Bob
