bongobobny Posted November 17, 2013 #4 Posted November 17, 2013 PS Why is it when I click on to any of the links in your post it sends me to my email page?????
etcswjoe Posted November 17, 2013 #5 Posted November 17, 2013 Ruffy copied it from his Yahoo account and the hyperlinks copied also. You can Google the buyers e-mail and it comes up in several scam reports.

MJ44 Posted November 17, 2013 #7 Posted November 17, 2013 Every vehicle I have ever had on craigslist gets several of those responses. I usually send back an email saying "Does this scam ever work?" Surprisingly, they don't respond.
djh3 Posted November 17, 2013 #8 Posted November 17, 2013 I am currently looking for a cargo type trailer and have noticed a few ads that said "no pay pal payment" Didnt know why but guess now I do.
brd7666 Posted November 17, 2013 #9 Posted November 17, 2013 I wouldn't email them back. That's a good way for them to get your email address, so they can start spamming you.

Never return an email to these scams, part of It is a fishing net scam to try to get real email address, store them up and sell them off to more spammers.. Just report it back to Craigslist as spam located in the bottom of the email, deliete it and move on,.

Flyinfool Posted November 18, 2013 #12 Posted November 18, 2013 I have been having luck by adding a line near my contact info; "Scammers don't bother, I know all of your tricks" I very rarely get contacted by scammers anymore.
Trader Posted November 18, 2013 #13 Posted November 18, 2013 I hate scammers...but please explain. How does giving someone your paypal ID open you up to a scam? They need the email address....and that's all. That IS the paypal ID isn't it? I've bought a bunch of stuff thru paypal.....what am I missing here? I can't believe anyone would be stupid enough to give them passwords too!

aharbi Posted November 18, 2013 #15 Posted November 18, 2013 1) Who talks like that? 2) Dude change jobs... yours sucks 3) yep a scam
Flyinfool Posted November 18, 2013 #16 Posted November 18, 2013 I hate scammers...but please explain. How does giving someone your paypal ID open you up to a scam? They need the email address....and that's all. That IS the paypal ID isn't it? I've bought a bunch of stuff thru paypal.....what am I missing here? I can't believe anyone would be stupid enough to give them passwords too! The way the scam works is that they pay thru PP with a stolen credit card. By the time the card company figures it out, and debits PP and PP then pulls the funds back from you. the scammers already have your merchandise and you are out the money and your merchandise. Or the scammers simply file a complaint saying that they never received the item or the item was not as advertised or that it was a counterfeit. PP usually sides with the buyer unless the seller has good proof of everything. The scumbags probably have a lot more ways to cheat you out of your hard earned money that I never even heard or thought of. That is why the payment with postal MO or cashiers check scam has dwindled down, Most people know that a modern scanner and printer can make a pretty convincing copy.
Guest Posted November 18, 2013 #17 Posted November 18, 2013 Turns out that the second hit on Craigslist is also a scam. This guy has been operating under the same email for several years. Hello, Thanks for the mail, I'm interested in buying this item for my son and I'm okay with the price, I'm a Subsea Engineer and currently offshore I want this as a surprise gift for my son so I won't let him to be aware until delivery. I feel more comfortable to handle the payment through PayPal due to their various security measures and ensuring safety and secured transaction between both buyers and seller and kindly reply me with your paypal email address for me to processed with the payment, incase you do not have an account with paypal you can easily set-up an account with them today as it's secured and reliable in terms of transaction arrangement. Visit their website on www.paypal.com I will be responsible for the paypal charges. My movers would come around for the pick up as soon as possible, after the payment has been sent to you and your full address and phone number will be needed for the freight arrangement I would love to speak with you through the phone but due to the nature of my work as a Subsea Engineer i work mainly at the Sea of Okhotsk and our phone is down on the rig right now due to bad weather, We can still communicate through the email exchange for now. I will be looking forward to read from you in real soon with the paypal email address and your full address including phone number for the freight arrangement. Charles.
Barrycuda Posted November 18, 2013 #18 Posted November 18, 2013 Beware of anyone who is: Out of the country On assignment from work On assignment from military Looking for a friend in another state or country Does not give legit number or email If they say shipping is handled or has a friend to deal w transport If they say pay us first If they say or do anything that causes a gut feeling. Sadly, these losers pray on the good natured, non informed, trusting and or the weak. If you can't get a legit physical address, email, phone number or physically can not see, touch or ride the bike and see its title, stay away and do not waste anymore of your precious time ...
N3FOL Posted November 19, 2013 #19 Posted November 19, 2013 I almost always never make any kind of deal on C. Better be safe than sorry. 💬

Surprisingly, they don't respond. Same here.. no matter what you list these jerks send something like this. My son in Savannah fell for it. They picked up his car, the check bounced.. He never was able to retrieve his money or car. I once had a guy send me a similar email from CA for a "couch" I was selling in Huntsville, AL.. He wanted to send his drive to the house to pick it up and he was wanted to pay me through Pay-pal...What a PAL he was going to be.............
