StarFan Posted November 14, 2013 Share #1 Posted November 14, 2013 Greetings fellow members. I am slowly but "securely" rebuilding/dressing up my 2000 Venture "The Red Baron" and bought OEM driving lights and the mount bar. But I would like to change the lamps to AMBER LED. The reason is that I have installed a Amber/Yellow headlight bulb and would like the driving lamps to match. Also The Amber really is a nice combination to the Candy Red colour of the bike. Last reason is that I would like to lessen the stress on the ignition. Am also looking for AMBER LED headlight. Anybody know if this is available ? Any help, advice or discussion wouyld be highly apreciated Friendly regards from Iceland, Jonas / StarFan
alwrmcusn Posted November 14, 2013 Share #2 Posted November 14, 2013 I may be wrong but here in the United States those "colored" headlight bulbs would be illegal and therefore would not be found for sale.
Flyinfool Posted November 14, 2013 Share #3 Posted November 14, 2013 I have not seen amber LED headlight bulbs, but then I never really looked either. I have seen amber HID headlight bulbs.
RedRider Posted November 14, 2013 Share #4 Posted November 14, 2013 Just as an aside, I suggest you do a relay bypass of the ignition to lessen the stress on the ignition switch. There are some off-road amber LED lamps available. http://stores.homestead.com/hstrial-QualiRegResou/StoreFront.bok You may need to email them as the amber is new and may not be on the website (didn't take the time to dig into the site). However, I haven't seen amber LEDs available in the PAR36 size for the Yamaha light bar. RR
cb1313 Posted November 14, 2013 Share #5 Posted November 14, 2013 You better check your state laws. Certain light colors in front of cars/motorcycle? are for certain types of vehicles only. Cb
alwrmcusn Posted November 14, 2013 Share #6 Posted November 14, 2013 He is in Iceland according to his user info. Their laws may well be different for normal road use over there.
MikeWa Posted November 15, 2013 Share #7 Posted November 15, 2013 I use amber passing lamps and like them especially in fog. But they are not good for headlights. Mike
