EasyRider Posted November 13, 2013 #2 Posted November 13, 2013 Big fish in a little pond bite off more than they can chew... I would see if the bikers would gather in mass and follow the last float in the parade. Wonder how many he would try to arrest in front of the public and fellow veterans??
SilvrT Posted November 13, 2013 Author #3 Posted November 13, 2013 I emailed everyone listed at the end of the article, expressing my feelings. I received a reply from Ric MgGee stating that he issued a statement this morning that he was stepping down from the Police Services Board
CaptainJoe Posted November 13, 2013 #4 Posted November 13, 2013 While I side with our police 99.9 percent of the time, this police chief definately has issues and has an Adolf Hitler mentality... He needs to go.

Sailor Posted November 15, 2013 #11 Posted November 15, 2013 Yep, I can believe it. When we re-started the motorcycle toy run on Salt Spring we asked the RCMP to help control the traffic at intersections in the interest of safety. They informed us they had no one available. Later they found officers to patrol the camp ground and set up radar traps on the road to the campground. There were no complaints and no tickets were issued. The next year they refused and the man in charge said they refused to be associated with some biker event. We got volunteers to control the traffic and again there were no complaints and no problems. The RCMP patrolling the campground had nothing but good things to say. The third year we got minimal co-operation out of the RCMP. By the fourth year they were helping out. It took the community and the RCMP officers themselves to convince the guy in charge that it is a good event and beneficial to the community and they looked like idiots for boycotting it. There have never been any problems and the kids have benefited greatly. Look forward to their co-operation next year. As a member of the Defenders Motorcycle Club ( Veterans) I find it offensive that one man can decide to ban people from the parade because they ride motorcycles. I presume some of them are veterans but that is immaterial as they are out there supporting veterans.
