Lately I've noticed a big drop in the supporting member activity. Both viewing and posting. I just looked at the count and there were only 44 members, and 240-something guests on the counter. Seems to have started about the same time our illustrious leader decided to get warts, and go buy a Harley, and it seems like fewer and fewer folks are participating. That and older members moving on to other makes, and taking more interest in their new 'love'..... Is this a harbinger of the future of VR.org??? Or just a sign of the economic times??? :confused07:

Here is my take, for what it's worth...

A few of the things mentioned are probably true. Winter for some, gearing up for the holidays, work schedules and lack of free time. For me personally, I am not good at giving anybody advice on motors, tranny, wheels, fork bushings, electrical voltage, etc. therefore, I have little to contribute. It seems stupid for me to add or comment on many of the topics bc IDK crap about repairs. I also work 2 jobs and have younger children. Not for anyone to boo hoo me, but it's partly all of that. I wish I knew more to contribute, knew more of y'all personally. I have been here on this site close to a year and this is a fantastic bunch. I am hopeful, we will just ride this out. Perhaps it's an ebb and flow. Everyone seems to have something going on and to align us all is difficult. I would like to add that those who COULD post and just read, should be encouraged to participate simply from a perspective of keeping the forum alive and running well. If anyone wants my 2 cents, there it is...:bighug:

Sense I bought my 2nd gen I don't ask many question because it runs so good but I do have a 1st gen in garage that I have to work on this winter to try and do some work on 2nd gear and the starter up grade to 4 brush system . Someday I want to sell the 1st Gen . and pay for new flooring that my wife wants done right away.

Sorry for not asking more question to all the great people on this sight.

Been tough for me lately, as well. I just moved to L.A. from Seattle. Drove the truck pulling a Uhaul trailer full of stuff. Just started a new job. Bike is still in Seattle. Need to get it down here soon. The weather today is 88°. Actually, nice to be back after 13.5 years in the PNW. Even though I rode most of the time in winter in Seattle, except maybe a month, I should be able to ride here all the time & as soon as the bike gets shipped that's exactly what I'll be doing. I don't do a lot of contributing, anyway, but also nice to know I've been missed. :whistling:

1- SEAFOAM will fix it

2- CASSETTE DECK...really?

3- Tires...don't go to the dark side!

4- OIL...mine is the only logical choice

There....I think I just covered 50% of the posts.

So no wonder nobody has much else to add!:whistling:

I'm sorry to say it, but I'm usually on a lot more when I'm riding the Venture combo and especially if I do any work on it, but it has been off the road for a year now with basically nothing wrong with it - I just want to sort out the leaky exhaust. I just seem to have no time to fiddle with the bikes and I've bought a DL650 V-Strom for daily transport.

When I log on I usually check the jokes page and skim the other posts, but in the tech forum I'm thinking about what I did several years ago, rather than something I've seen recently. Having said that, I'd miss it if the site wasn't here for me to come to and I do check in once in a while, just not as often as I used to.

1- SEAFOAM will fix it------------you forgot about the duct tape

2- CASSETTE DECK...really?---------Yamaha put it there so we would have something to talk about.

3- Tires...don't go to the dark side!----darkside for 3 years on my Stratoliner- then bought new venture

.4- OIL...mine is the only logical choice----Do we need oil?

Maybe there all on Facebook ? Discussing the International rally No one is signed up on the calender here @ VR.ORG. hmmm and from the official IR thread there are a lot of folks registering. I don't FB so I probably don't know what I'm talking about. But I have also noticed the drop as of late and it didn't seem to be this slow last year at this time.

On second thought I think I have the answer Condor and that is we got the Garage all finished. So that has to be it.

I'm here most of the day. Still relatively quiet at work and thru the evenings I'm reading off and on depending on what is on tv.

Think for the most part it is as riding season comes to an end for most of us.

I plan on being more active this winter as I do some pretty extensive work on my scott, changing some things, fixing some things, and general maintenance,..

Hope to give out some ideas, and get some help as well,..

Hello Everyone: I too have noticed some decline in the postings at times. I enjoy starting and ending each day here. Since the riding season has ended for many of us, motorcycling is on the back burner at the moment. I get my daily fill of humor from many on here. Great site!!!

Jack, I have noticed the same things too. Sometimes the world moves on. Things change. People change. Stuff happens. Hell, even chat has died a slow and agonizing death. Only a few members are ever in there anymore. Bees that way I guess.....

I have noticed that quite many people you would see online at least once a day kind of have vanished so to speak. The reason - don´t have a clue but at least I don´t think it has anything to do with the Boss driving a Harley. Why shouldn´t he drive what he feels like and why should that effect members ? I at least respect him regardless of what he rides. It has also many times over been said that everybody is welcome to the site regardless of what you ride !!!

I love this site and I try to read the forum once a day if I am not to busy and usually respond to a post or two. But gotta say I miss many of the members that used to be online all the time. One thing for sure - You are never getting rid of me because this site has members that simply are beautiful people !!!

What ever happened to Naked Chat ?? Been -:cold:- my a$$ off night after night waiting for it to surface !

Miss you Y*** M***:bighug:
