Scooter Jim Posted November 12, 2013 #1 Posted November 12, 2013 Has anyone chucked the 2 piece cable system that the cruise control uses and installed a standard type system direct to the carbs? If so, what length is required and is there an existing system that can be used versus having to custom build a system? Thanks for any help.

All you meed is the cables from a Venture without cruise. Correction that isn't really 2 cable but 4 that connect in a junction. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1983-Yamaha-Venture-XVZ12TK-Push-and-Pull-Throttle-Cables-/161144179321?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2584f10a79&vxp=mtr Edited November 12, 2013 by mralex714

You can order custom cables from Motion Pro if you want to eliminate junction block. I was considering doing this to the Hybrid RSV/1st Gen Venture/VMax I am building, but have decided against it. The carbs are more difficult to remove without junction block. I will need to pull them probably a couple of times to get jetting correct right away. The link mralex714 posted above shows a 1st gen 83-85 or VMax non cruise junction block. This uses different cables than what is on cruise equipped bikes. The cable ends that go into this block have a much smaller ferule on them than cruise equipped bikes which have a barrel connector. They are not interchangeable. http://www.motionpro.com/motorcycle/tools/category/cables/?gclid=CMzCtdOj3roCFQ8OOgodVG0AOA Thread linked below I started a week ago about eliminating junction block. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=82951 Gary
Scooter Jim Posted November 12, 2013 Author #4 Posted November 12, 2013 Thanks for the replies. What I really want to do is get rid of the junction block and have two standard cables like on a standard street bike. Much easier to deal with and adjust. Guess I will have to have them made up. Thanks again.
