Flyinfool Posted November 8, 2013 #1 Posted November 8, 2013 It is the time of year where the deer are just coming into the rut. This means that they will be more active and even less predictable than at any other time of the year. A buck will attack almost anything that gets between him and the doe he is chasing. The does will run blindly trying to get away from the bucks if they are not yet ready for what he has in mind. There is no more of the "mostly around dawn and dusk" for deer running across a road, expect them at any time of the day or night. All of the flashing lights and loud noises will not get them to stop from running in front of you. It is totally up to you to see and avoid them, and they may be coming fast. Lets all be extra vigilant out there. The Rut typically lasts till mid to late November. Just 12 more days till I head out to start thinning the heard.
Huggy Posted November 8, 2013 #2 Posted November 8, 2013 Hell where I live the deer are always running cross the road!! Between them and the damn turkeys I don't know which is worse!!!
RandyR Posted November 8, 2013 #3 Posted November 8, 2013 I'm sure that putting a hunting license on the dashboard along with an orange hat scares them away.
Huggy Posted November 8, 2013 #4 Posted November 8, 2013 I'm sure that putting a hunting license on the dashboard along with an orange hat scares them away. That only works when you are actually in the bush hunting! When you are driving they choose lots to see who is going to be the suicide deer and take out a car!!
ReinyRooster Posted November 8, 2013 #5 Posted November 8, 2013 I've been sitting in the bush since Monday with the licence and the orange hat.......have seen a ton of turkeys but Bambi is playing hide and seek....and winning. Hopefully they will start moving more now.
Huggy Posted November 9, 2013 #6 Posted November 9, 2013 Should sit in my back yard lots of deer around! Turkey's running all over the place! In the spring going to have to set up the blind in the back yard. I got a real nice tom twenty feet from the deck two years ago, 27 lbs.
ReinyRooster Posted November 9, 2013 #7 Posted November 9, 2013 Sure...tease me! The week was a bust. Nothing.
Eck Posted November 9, 2013 #8 Posted November 9, 2013 Thanks for the heads up Jeff.........I didn't even think of that..
Huggy Posted November 9, 2013 #9 Posted November 9, 2013 Sure...tease me! The week was a bust. Nothing. I didn't hunt this year. Was just too busy with getting things in shape/ready for winter. Will go at it next year again. I like to hunt deer with my cross bow and during the gun hunt I use a muzzle loader, 50 cal. Junior, youngest boy, has one deer in the freezer already. Between him and his girl friend they have 4 tags. They mostly bow hunt up in the Trenton area. I hunt turkey in the back yard with my crossbow.
