Condor Posted November 7, 2013 #1 Posted November 7, 2013 When adding air to the front forks and the rear shock with the CLASS system the high pressures were 17psi and 71psi for the 1stGens, and if I remember correctly the 2ndGens max specs call for 45psi for the shock and 7psi for the forks. Why's that??? What's the big difference. A curious mind wants to know.... :confused07:
Yammer Dan Posted November 8, 2013 #2 Posted November 8, 2013 (edited) When you crank on a 1st Gen and all that power is shifted to the rear........ Hell don't know Jack but it sounded good... Edited November 8, 2013 by Yammer Dan
Venturous Randy Posted November 8, 2013 #3 Posted November 8, 2013 Well, we already know that 2nd gen shocks are a problem as compared to a 1st gen that seem to last forever, but I wonder if the linkage configuration is different. I posted a question earlier about some differences and did not get one comment. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=82781&highlight=shock RandyA

I think you were right on the money. All that pressure on the rear under acceleration has to be controlled. And when the front wheel touches down on pavement again you need added pressure to control the weight of the beast. Not an issue with 2nd Gens.
kevin-vic-b.c. Posted November 8, 2013 #5 Posted November 8, 2013 I Think..... front forks are larger diameter on second gen so it will = PSI/area or literally Pounds Per Square Inch in the shock. I do not know about the rear shock for sure but very likely the same explanation. If the rear shock was the same 1st to 2nd gen we would all have 1st gen shocks in our seconds correct. as for the ...... big difference between 1st and 2nd on launch is.... I was never able to "smoke" my 1st gen rear on take off.... but I sure as hell had better be hanging on tight.... 2nd gen I can light up rear tire any time I want to.... summer time at the race track I turned more than a few heads when they noticed "That Big Bike" smoking on launch. And yes.... hold on tight. I will never get the miles out of my Venoms' I got on the Metzlers of the 1st gen, but I know why.

Since the bikes weigh within 50# of each other, and since the stiffness of the ride is controlled by the shock resistance, I wonder if Y was just trying to make the ride 'cushy-er' I Think..... front forks are larger diameter on second gen so it will = PSI/area or literally Pounds Per Square Inch in the shock. On my 1stGens they've never come off the line all that well and bog a bit, but when the R's build look out. The 2nd's seem to 'dig' a little better when dumping the clutch. More responsive on the low end. I also wonder what would happen if we took the pressures to those for the 1stGen??? My '07 front end dives a bunch when making a fast stop...and it bugs me...
Yammer Dan Posted November 8, 2013 #7 Posted November 8, 2013 If you bring that 1st Gen off the line about 8k you won't have a problem.....
JohnT Posted November 8, 2013 #8 Posted November 8, 2013 If you bring that 1st Gen off the line about 8k you won't have a problem..... Oh yeah you will. Short rear tire life.
Yammer Dan Posted November 8, 2013 #9 Posted November 8, 2013 Oh yeah you will. Short rear tire life. As I have mentioned several times...if I get 4k out of a rear it would be fantastic!!:whistling:I put a new Avon on the Blue Beast and 3400 miles later thread was hanging out.
