Bubber Posted November 4, 2013 #1 Posted November 4, 2013 Does any one have a Harbor Freight coupon To save some money? I was looking at a trailer hitch cargo carrier to modify and I wanted to save some bucks. ANYBODY? Thanks Bubber
BratmanXj Posted November 4, 2013 #2 Posted November 4, 2013 Usually find them in ANY motorcycle or automotive magazine, in the coupon packs that come in my mail every week; or the Sunday paper in the coupon flyer or even the Parade (or other local variation) magazine in the weekend newspaper. My local HF will not honor printed coupons, must be originals...but they put them out in enough different places that they are not hard to come by. Edit - You can also go to HF website and sign up for mail or e-mail coupons
Flyinfool Posted November 4, 2013 #3 Posted November 4, 2013 (edited) I get emails from HF every couple of days with loads of coupons. To use them they must be printed out. But then of course we need more info on which carrier you are getting and what the mods are and how it works out AND OF COURSE>>>>> Edited November 4, 2013 by Flyinfool
Bubber Posted November 4, 2013 Author #4 Posted November 4, 2013 I will call to make sure they will take them printed. Bubber
RedRider Posted November 4, 2013 #5 Posted November 4, 2013 Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Sunday paper always has a 25% off coupon in the HF flier. Used it Friday to get a small jack and again today (used new coupon from Sunday) to get a metric micrometer. Rider magazine has a 20% off coupon. RR
dingy Posted November 4, 2013 #6 Posted November 4, 2013 Send me an email & I can send you one good for 20% off in November. I printed it, and was able to use it Saturday. It is good all month, on use per customer per day. Gary
dingy Posted November 4, 2013 #7 Posted November 4, 2013 I also got a coupon for a 500lbs. capacity deluxe steel cargo carrier. H/F pn 66983. Coupon is for $49.99 regular $99.99, on sale for $69.99 Gary

Bubber Posted November 5, 2013 Author #9 Posted November 5, 2013 (edited) I was thinking aluminum do to weight concerns. I may have to reevaluate all my options. Thanks. If there are other coupons greater than 20% keep them coming. Bubber has anyone got one of these http://i.ebayimg.com/t/Harbor-Freight-COUPON-500lb-CAPACITY-ALUMINUM-CARGO-CARRIER-SAVE-60-/00/s/MTQ4WDIyNQ==/z/DOIAAOxyTMhR9J5p/$(KGrHqZHJCYFHR8SuZkmBR9J5o86Y!~~60_35.JPG so I can print it? I have a couple of those carriers and I recommend them. I turned one into a receiver mounted motorcycle carrier for a lighter weight (450 lbs.) bike. Get a couple of larger diameter washers, like fender washers to put on either side of the bolt that fastens the receiver bar to the aluminum structure. That will increase it's "sway" strength.
Bubber Posted November 7, 2013 Author #11 Posted November 7, 2013 So the HF carriers works out like this at a local store list price $129.99 with 25% coupon and on sale at $99.99 works out to be $79.67 w/taxes $60 off the list price of $129.99 works out to be $74.36 w/taxes Problem with these Harbor Freight carriers I have is I have to drive 80 miles round trip to get it. Or I can go locally to Fleet Farm for list price of $89.99 on sale (for a Larin carrier) plus taxes works out to be $95.61 26 miles round trip and I go there regularly anyway. I am thinking that it makes sense to buy the Fleet Farm carrier and save the gas expense. At 14 MPG it seems to be a wash. Only real difference is the HF Vs Larin as manufacturers. What do you think?
dingy Posted November 7, 2013 #12 Posted November 7, 2013 I knew an RSV was low & slow, but what a surprise they only get 14 MPG !!!! Gary
Bubber Posted November 7, 2013 Author #13 Posted November 7, 2013 I knew an RSV was low & slow, but what a surprise they only get 14 MPG !!!! Gary Since we were the recipient of 2" of snow the other day the RSV won't be going anywhere for a while. The F150 is the gas hog at 14MPG. But thanks for the smile anyway.
Bubber Posted November 8, 2013 Author #14 Posted November 8, 2013 I bought the Larin and now to modify it to fit my needs. It has got to hold a cooler and small tool box like trunk to hold some extra gear. Also thinking about lengthening the tongue on the Bunkhouse but I haven't determined by how much. Any ideas on that.
