Grolli Posted November 1, 2013 #1 Posted November 1, 2013 My P.O. just handed me the factory hitch and wiring setup for my 85 Royale. I have no need for it. Anyone interested?

Bob Myers Posted November 1, 2013 #6 Posted November 1, 2013 I wish the piece of crappy trash I bought from a member here had looked even remotely like this one. Maybe then it would have fit.
bill in mn Posted November 1, 2013 #7 Posted November 1, 2013 I'm going to pass on this .I have been thinking about getting into a newer bike and should save the funds for that. thanks Bill
Bob Myers Posted November 1, 2013 #8 Posted November 1, 2013 Put me on the short list for this too, if everyone else passes send me a PM with a price.
Prairiehammer Posted November 1, 2013 #9 Posted November 1, 2013 (edited) Just a FYI: there a couple items missing from the pictured hitch that are required for properly mounting to a MKI. The two short "tangs" are to be bolted to the crash bars utilizing a "clamp". The clamps look like this: There are a pair on eBay right now: http://www.ebay.com/itm/400501250098?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT Here is a pic of the Markland hitch instructions for mounting to a MKI. I wish the piece of crappy trash I bought from a member here had looked even remotely like this one. Maybe then it would have fit. Bob the OP is offering a Markland trailer hitch for a MKI. You have a 1983-1985 in addition to your '87? Edited November 1, 2013 by Prairiehammer
Grolli Posted November 1, 2013 Author #10 Posted November 1, 2013 Thanks! Also.. I don't have any of the bolts, just the hitch and harness.

Bob the OP is offering a Markland trailer hitch for a MKI. You have a 1983-1985 in addition to your '87? I presume it won't fit then or you wouldn't have drawn my attention to the intended fit. It siure looks like it would come closer to fitting than the tinker toy piece I ended up with. Mine has a similar mount point at the lower front, but if I actually hook it onto both bolts where the crash bars mount then it barely, I mean less than a ¼" clears the rear of the tire, and doesn't even come close to poking out from under the bike. It was supposed to be off of a 90 model I think
Prairiehammer Posted November 1, 2013 #12 Posted November 1, 2013 Bob, Does the one you have look like this?
jwox Posted November 1, 2013 #13 Posted November 1, 2013 I guess I'd like to be on the list too behind everyone else. I'm planning on building a tear drop trailer sometime this spring and need a hitch. The wiring is on the bike but no hitch.

Bob, most of the hitches I've seen for the MKII are bolted to the bike's frame at the muffler mount. Like this:
