GeorgeS Posted February 26, 2008 #1 Posted February 26, 2008 I have been fighting computer problems that last two days. Anyway, just a reminder, Microsoft has a lot of Security updates for free download on their sight. If you have not checked this for awhile.
Guest Popeye Posted February 26, 2008 #2 Posted February 26, 2008 I just had to get another laptop & set it for Windows auto-updates. Still waiting for one that'll make Vista Home Premium work right. Then there is Anti-Virus that MS can't provide & Adware Blockers, Spybot/Spyware removers, Hardware Firewall, etc. There is a lot of freeware on the net for this, but it's actually the exact mess you don't want on your PC. At least backup drives are cheap enough these days [.5 Terabyte backup drive is about $120.] more than can be used.
GeorgeS Posted February 27, 2008 Author #3 Posted February 27, 2008 Well I found that the auto updates does not get them all. I did that, but still found many more " Security Updates "
AZSpyder Posted February 27, 2008 #4 Posted February 27, 2008 I keep forgetting to check, ever since I got the mac.
Al Bates Posted February 27, 2008 #5 Posted February 27, 2008 Been using AVG Anti-Malware 7.5 for years have had no problems. Built 2 desk tops and purchase 3 lap tops over the years. Running Vista on the new Lap-Top. Found AVG works well for me. Not sure but I think I pay $40.00 for two years, well worth it. They also have a free unlimited use with out the Malware. I use the free AVG for years and liked it so much I decided to upgrade and pay for a licenses. I'm glad I did. AVG http://www.grisoft.com/doc/31/us/crp/0
