Looking at replacing current grips and end weights with Kuryakin ISO grips with throttle boss and end weights. Are these thicker than the stock ones?

Price including shipping and local taxes for all would be about $185 from Cruisercustomizing.

I personally am not a far of the iso grips, I had a set break on me. The plastic between the rubber is thin and weak, and thats where mine broke. I wont put another set on any of my bikes as I can't trust they wont break.

Had ISO on my last 3 bikes, two Royals.

Only problem I have is the black rubber will stain my tan gloves.

The rubber does tend to loose top shinny layer.

They are bigger diameter than stock and may relieve some cramping.

You may have to modify the grips or your stock weights to keep the weights.

I suggest you keep some weights on, for vibration (you'll get opinions here).

But if you don't want to go to the trouble, both Kuryakyn and Barons make after market end-weights for about $40-45 a pair. On my RSV I went with the Barons, more bullet shaped. The Kuryakyn are "plug" shaped but look good too.

They simply install with 4 screws, no mods.

A poor man's fix is California Grip Puppies,,, $10. Look okay and reduce cramps.

I also had one break but mine are made of some sort of cast metal. AND the break was partly my fault.

To answer your question, yes the diameter is quiet a bit larger than the stock grips but they feel better to me.

I have the throttle bosses but no weights.

After 70-75,000 miles the chrome is beginning to pit from the sweat from my hands.

I would buy again,

Used Isos on a bike once for many miles and will never install again. They got so sticky I hated to put my hands on them and they turn you hands black also they are so common you see them everywhere. I now use a les expensive grip that has replaceable foam rubber tubes that can be stretched on to the grips.

Well, I ordered them today, should get them in 5 to 7 day's. Nice winter project to install them.....yes bike is now stored for the season :snow2:, but accessible to do the work.

Thanks for the input folks:big-grin-emoticon:.

One thing to remember is not to pull up on the handle bars by the end of iso grips if you're moving the bike.. on one side (or both?) the handlebar tube doesn't quite go all the way to the end, thereby that's usually where and how they break.. I broke on the VStar but never on the RSV.. Great grips.. and since it's usually cooler up here, most people wear gloves when they ride anyway so the bare hand annoyances shouldn't be a concern for you. I have stiletto weights on my iso grips and throttle boss.. nice combo.. I think you will enjoy them.

(bike gets parked for the season on 31 Dec and out again 01 Jan..;)

Grips finally arrived last friday and I got around to installing them tonight. They look like the first picture above with the contoured throttle boss and end weight. On the clutch side I used a regular throttle boss to provide some support and end weight. Was pretty much as per instructions provided to install but had to remove the brake master from the bars to be able to open up the throttle housing. Took about 45min to do job. Used w40 to remove brake side and acetone to remove old glue from bar.

Thanks to all who provided advice on this one as I was a bit intimidated by it until help and advice was provided.

Well, will depend on budget :whistling: but looking at:

- All LED lights including running and headlight along with a dedicated on/off switch on handle bars for driving lights (Looking at 3 switch housing that fits on top of master brake.

- New highway pegs - looking at ISO's triangular mini board stryle

- Harley rear light bar ...if I can find one...ones on ebay right now are junk :bang head:

- Front fork end caps

- leather tank protector

- new front tire (first on list to do for obvious reasons)

Final report - Was able to take bike out on a 200 mile loop yesterday and I am impressed with these grips. Would usually have numb fingers after about 1/2 hours, but took a 3hr ride with no numbness at all. Here is what it looks like with the throttle boss and end weight. :322:
