2004 second gen pipes to a 1997 Royal Star?damn

Damn. Just posted this (so I thought) but nothing happened.

Here we go again.

I'm selling a set of Samson pipes off my 2004 Second Gen RSV on eBay,

I have an inquiry from a guy who owns a 1997 Royal Star who wants to know if they'll fit.

Will they? Can anybody enlighten me please?

They will not in the stock configuration, the early RS's have 4 individual header pipes and mufflers. They would have to replace the header pipes with ones off an RSV or '05 and up RSTD, and I'm not 100% positive those will fit his '97. I think the mounts are going to be different too, the pipes on his bike bolt up in different spots than the RSV does....

There were some versions of the original Royal Stars that had 4 into 2 set ups, I know the Tour Classic and Tour DeLuxe from 1998 to 2001 had that set up for certian, not sure about previous year models, but many had 4 x 4 pipes. If his has 4 x 4 set up he has a lot of adjustments to make, one of which is a place to hang the mufflers on.

 

If he has a 4 x 2 set up now he needs to understand that the mouting setup for hanging the mufflers under the bags is different between the original Royals and the Venture. Probably not a big deal to fab an adapter, but they are not ready to bolt on.
