Freebird Posted October 25, 2013 #1 Posted October 25, 2013 It is time to head home I guess. Will load the boat up later this morning. Must be time, it is 23 here this morning. Will have to get the boat winterized tomorrow. Do hope there will be a couple of weekends warm enough to ride yet.
mini-muffin Posted October 25, 2013 #2 Posted October 25, 2013 Hope you guys had a great time and ya got some relaxation in. Can't tell ya if you'll get in any riding weather is a bit odd this month. Be careful loading up the boat and driving home. Margaret
Flyinfool Posted October 25, 2013 #3 Posted October 25, 2013 If it is that cold you may want to pull the drain plugs as soon as you get it out of the water so that nothing can freeze on the way home. But I'm sure you know that already..... The radio was saying that north east Ohio got a surprise heavy last night with lots of down trees and power outages. I hope everything is OK at home.

Flyinfool Posted October 25, 2013 #10 Posted October 25, 2013 Snow shoveling, Frostbite, salt induced vehicle rust, Trapped inside all winter with the family Ya'll move on over I'll be right up..............NOT Lets see. Wisconsin is sort of up north. Snow shoveling??? Have only done that once in the last 25 years. Frostbite??? Never had it, don't get that cold here. It has only been below -30°F twice that I can remember. Salt induced vehicle rust??? I see just as much if not more rust on vehicles from Florida. Trapped inside all winter with the family That just ain't an issue. There is no family allowed in my house except for short visits. Ya'll move on over I'll be right up..............NOT Theres room for ya up here, there are a lot more people die from heat than from cold. I kind of like it up here. You should try it. :rasberry: :rasberry: :rasberry: :rasberry: :rasberry: Where else can you go out to an ice cream stand during a blizzard, and expect them to be open, and still have to wait in line????

I'm sure there are a lot of good reasons to live up north. Georgia is not for everyone either. I'm just saying we have enough of you sons and daughters of the northern aggressors down here already. It's just that everytime I think about blizzards and snow drifts my body shivers and I go BUUUURRRRRRRRRRRRRR The only kind of Blizzard I'm interested in has oreo cookies in it.. Don't tell Big Tom I mentioned Blizzards, please.

BigLenny Posted October 25, 2013 #15 Posted October 25, 2013 Christmas day last year we had an extremely rare 12" snowfall here in Little Rock. Locked the whole city down for several days. We didn't have electricity for 5 days. Anyway, on the second day I was outside scraping snow off of my vehicles when I heard a motorized vehicle coming down the street of our subdivision. I almost didn't look at it because I thought it was just an ATV. Everyone and their grandmother has a 4 wheeler/ATV down here. Your status down here is often judged by how nice your truck is, and how expensive your ATV is. So, I glance over at it, and it is a dude riding down my subdivision street in Little Rock, Arkansas on a freakin SNOWMOBILE!!!! He might as well have been an alien on a spaceship. After I stopped him to take a gander, he said he was from Minnesota and had brought it down when he moved for a job down here. He said he could hardly make it very far in the neighborhood because people were stopping him wanting to see this contraption called a snowmobile. LOL. I swear, about an hour after he left, a dude came down my street on a pair of snow ski's. Ski poles and all. Kinda felt like I was losing my mind or something. Love it when the Northerner's come down and bring their fancy stuff for us to gawk at.

ragtop69gs Posted October 25, 2013 #17 Posted October 25, 2013 used to stud the dirt bikes for winter fun, that was a looong time ago, It is a blast on ice.
tomephil Posted October 25, 2013 #18 Posted October 25, 2013 My two buddies ice race in Manitoba. You put screws inside out in the tires. Amazing traction but I wouldn't want to go down and have someone ride over me. Talk about being ventilated...
