Dragonslayer Posted October 22, 2013 #1 Posted October 22, 2013 Ok I admit it. There was a very small mishap that resulted in a cracked right side lower fairing. But, luckily I had some of that Q-bond stuff on hand that I had bought at Don's Maintenance Day a couple of years ago. That stuff is the bomb for ABS plastic issues. Please tell me who was it that I had bought it from was it Skydoc. I can't remember and want to keep an open supply line for it because I know I will need some more in the future. It seems to go a long way even though it looks like hardly nothing in the box. Well after fixing the plastic and a re-paint I was ready to put it back together when I discovered the right side fairing no longer fits and lines up. Evidently, the right side lower front crash bar it mounts to is slightly misaligned, unnoticeably disfigured, slightly skewered, cattywompassed and tweeked so that the mounting holes when lined up do not line up the right side fairing with the left side fairing, dramatically. Bottom line, I'm in the market for a right side front crash bar. Anyone have a spare they wouldn't mind selling or parting with?
Condor Posted October 22, 2013 #2 Posted October 22, 2013 Bob, those crash bars are easily reconfigured. Try bending it to fit the fairing, rather than trying to make the fairing fit the bar....
Yammer Dan Posted October 22, 2013 #3 Posted October 22, 2013 Big rubber hammer!! But keep head out of the way of rebound......
Blackjack Posted October 22, 2013 #4 Posted October 22, 2013 I just spoke to Bob and discovered that he no longer has his 1st Gen, so the request here is for his Millennium.
Dragonslayer Posted October 22, 2013 Author #5 Posted October 22, 2013 Big rubber hammer!! But keep head out of the way of rebound...... yea we don't need a repeat of the slingshot incident.
syscrusher Posted October 22, 2013 #6 Posted October 22, 2013 Thanks for the tip! Walmart and Amazon both have the kit that mixes an adhesive with a powder. The small kit costs about $12.
Dragonslayer Posted October 22, 2013 Author #7 Posted October 22, 2013 Thanks for the tip! Walmart and Amazon both have the kit that mixes an adhesive with a powder. The small kit costs about $12. Once I had some expensive wallpaper on a high end remodeling project that had some loose seams. Not wanting to mess up the wallpaper and to use the right stuff I found some "Specially Formulated Wall Paper Seam Adhesive" at Home Depot. To my segrin when I opened the package it was Elmer's glue with a fancy label at about five times the price. Live and Learn. I tell you that story because the Q-bond appears to be super glue and finely granulated ABS plastic powder. It does work good because the powder is so fine and flows into small cracks and crevices but, it aint no miracle drug.
