86er Posted October 20, 2013 #1 Posted October 20, 2013 Is it easier to change fork seals with the forks on the bike or off? I am switching my 88 and 86 forks, so I can go either way. 86 forks are already off, and I have polished the aluminum. I plan on doing this today.
Black wing Posted October 20, 2013 #2 Posted October 20, 2013 ive done both and found it easier on the bike myself
86er Posted October 20, 2013 Author #3 Posted October 20, 2013 Another question is, do I have to take the tops off to refill the fork fluid if I'm not changing the seal, or can I fill it from one of the EADS holes?

I used this write up followed it to the letter & used a 41mm driver. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=496

So you want to drain it and then refill it from the anti-dive? I don't know why that wouldn't work. With the fork tube inverted the fork oil would flow to the upper spring chamber. You may need to work the slide action to facilitate the transfer.
