SapperMedic Posted October 17, 2013 #1 Posted October 17, 2013 My son has a 98 Shadow 1100, with the bags on, the turn signals were almost covered. No problem...Dad to the rescue. I ordered LED turn signals from Fleabay and then drilled the fender to place them further back. Fronts went great except blinking was rapid. Wired the rears and NOTHING. I was told by a friend that it needs an electronic flasher because LEDs has less load on them, so no resistance. Anybody have experience with this. The flasher is in the frame under the fuel tank, so I didn't want to tear it down until I had further guidance. 3 wires BTW.
calperin Posted October 17, 2013 #2 Posted October 17, 2013 Yes, or electronic flasher or additional resistor to balance the load. If 3 wires, is position plus turn signal. Regards,
Bert2006 Posted October 17, 2013 #3 Posted October 17, 2013 Yes need different flasher or a load equalizer. For the rear remember that LEDs are pole specific, so you may have inversed the hot and ground wires if it does not work at all. Hope this helps.
