After this last tip over on my 83 Venture and how much discomfort I have been in from the fall on my ribs, and almost hurting Linda, I am thinking about doing a trike job on the 96 1500 Goldwing that I have. I need to pull the engine anyway and fix the broken gears related to the starter.

What I am looking for is some info on anyone that has triked a Goldwing and see how they did the suspension and find out what differential is a good candidate. I have access to a couple of Mustang II rearends or maybe pick up one from an old rear drive Toyota.

It has been a while since I did some shade tree engineering. I did put a 350 Chevy engine/350 Turbo trans in my 72 240Z Datsun and put 154,000 miles on it after the swap. I also put a straight six Chevy engine in a Volvo and it turned out good. I tried to Google doing a Goldwing trike and got either trikes for sale or kits that cost $6,000+.

Anyway, at this point I am just in the thinking stage and looking at future riding. I have no desire to fix the Goldwing for me to keep as to me it would be even worse to handle at low speeds with me being so inseam challenged. But with it having reverse, it may be a good candidate for a trike..

Unless you're intent on engineering something (and I think it's in your blood ) there are a ton of GL1500's out there already done - plus the price on some of them are pretty appealing

Randy, I didn't know you had a fall with Linda. I hope you two are OK. I too am thinking of going to a trike because the 1800 is getting kind of heavy, but I really like it on the curves..
