Cheesehead in flatland Posted October 12, 2013 #1 Posted October 12, 2013 Just purchased the factory accessory two pocket tank bib and when starting to install it I quickly saw that the two intercom wire clips that are glued to the tank are in the way. Without just ripping them off, what is the recommended method to remove them and not damage anything? Once removed, what is the best way to clean them and reattach in another location? Thanks!
MidlifeVenture Posted October 12, 2013 #2 Posted October 12, 2013 They were held on by 2 face tape I was able to just pull it off then roll the tape off and used some cleaner wax to remove sticky stuff
Cheesehead in flatland Posted October 12, 2013 Author #3 Posted October 12, 2013 (edited) They were held on by 2 face tape I was able to just pull it off then roll the tape off and used some cleaner wax to remove sticky stuff Thanks, it was exactly as you described. Pulled off much easier than I thought. The original rubber tank bib was held in place with the same double sided tape. Did you or anyone else use double sided tape on the new bib? I have it in place and the fit isn't real tight. Edited October 13, 2013 by Cheesehead in flatland
Santa Hal Posted October 12, 2013 #4 Posted October 12, 2013 I removed the center ribbon on my tank. So I can repaint 4 or 5 coats of clear on the tank. This is my second tank that I have on my bike. The first tank had little pits of paint on the top. So I removed the ribbon and never put it back. I think it looks pretty good without it. I got the second tank because it was under warranty. I flipped the cable over the handle bars and that's where it stays. Easy to plug in and no water in the out let cause it hangs down. :cool10:santa Hal
MidlifeVenture Posted October 13, 2013 #5 Posted October 13, 2013 I left most of the other tape in place figured it would help keep the leather in place and prevent scratching:thumbsup2:
