Skid Posted October 11, 2013 #1 Posted October 11, 2013 While hanging out in Black Mountain, NC today I had to stop at the Mexican restaurant and take time to remember Mark Hopey. Just isn't the same. Ride in Peace my friend...

foyerboy Posted October 11, 2013 #6 Posted October 11, 2013 Skid, If you want company while on your bike I can join up with you sometime while you're in the area. I always like to get to meet members. I am in Hickory about an hour from you.....
Skid Posted October 12, 2013 Author #7 Posted October 12, 2013 I'm not on the bike this weekend. The wife and I are in the Jeep attending some seminars at Ridgecrest all weekend. May have a few hours if free time tomorrow and drive down the Chimney Rock. The wife never been there and the weather should be excellent. I wished I had time to get together and ride a but while I'm here. But I will be back again. Thanks... I think s out Mark often when I think of all the good times I had at the KIA campground. Being here this weekend really hit home.
Riderduke Posted October 12, 2013 #8 Posted October 12, 2013 Yup he is missed...... The Asheville rally wont be the same without him....... I have a PM from him a few days before he died that I saved..... (margarita recipe)....So at least that part of the rally can live on:happy34:
Venturous Randy Posted October 12, 2013 #9 Posted October 12, 2013 There is no doubt that Mark was special. I don't think that I have ever met anyone that smiled and laughed as much as Warrior did. He was a blast to be around. RandyA
Eck Posted October 12, 2013 #10 Posted October 12, 2013 I think of Mark often. A point to ponder: Just think what it would be like if everyone was like him...
Yammer Dan Posted October 12, 2013 #11 Posted October 12, 2013 This one brings a smile and a tear at the same time. Mark and I were sitting at the camp spirit table in Ashville one morning when Mark (being Mark and teasing me) said "Old man, when I get as old as you are I hope I can still ride like you do." I told him in the sprit of that moment "Ya keep riding that 2nd Gen you will never make it!!" I thought he was gone to fall off the bench laughing!! He said "You never miss a chance do you. You Old ..........." We talked bikes a lot that trip. I like to think I passed a little to him. He will be not be forgotten.
Skid Posted October 12, 2013 Author #12 Posted October 12, 2013 I bet Mark is getting a good laugh now thinking "Yammer? on a Second Gen?"
etcswjoe Posted October 12, 2013 #13 Posted October 12, 2013 In the below post it was said that we might do a ride for Mark and spread his ashes, does anyone know if this ever happened or is still desired? http://www.venturerider.org/modules/News/showarticle.php?t=73209&op=nextoldest
Yammer Dan Posted October 12, 2013 #14 Posted October 12, 2013 I bet Mark is getting a good laugh now thinking "Yammer? on a Second Gen?" I can hear him saying Getting Old are ya Yammer!!!
ADC Posted October 12, 2013 #15 Posted October 12, 2013 I think about Mark every once in a while,I'm heading to Black Mountain this sun with the family(cage) for the week I'm sure I'll think of him more being there.
AKRefugee Posted October 13, 2013 #16 Posted October 13, 2013 When I went to my 1st Maintenance Day Mark was suppose to go but couldn't at the last minute. Annie had made name tags that year and there was one for Mark. I grabbed it to bring back to him but of course forgot to do so. Ever since then it has been in my saddle bag. I never took it out and never will. If I am in the bike he is always riding with me. Couldn't of to many others I would enjoy having ride with me every time. Ride Happy Ride Safe
Woody Posted October 13, 2013 #17 Posted October 13, 2013 I think of Warrior every time I look at my 2006 Venture
