CaptainJoe Posted October 10, 2013 #1 Posted October 10, 2013 How much trouble would it be to add a sold price to the classified section? Quite a few have asked about their bikes value over the years. What better way than to actually see what they have ACTUALLY SOLD for.
Freebird Posted October 10, 2013 #2 Posted October 10, 2013 Unfortunately, it wouldn't help much because the ads are deleted shortly after an item is sold. At least they should be. People should NOT use the "never expire" option when listing their item. Then when they mark it sold, it is automatically deleted in a few days.
CaptainJoe Posted October 10, 2013 Author #3 Posted October 10, 2013 Perhaps a simple thread, placed in the right section would do. Something like "Used Venture Prices" After a member sold one they could voluntarily post to the thread? Any thoughts ?
Flyinfool Posted October 10, 2013 #4 Posted October 10, 2013 Then there is the issue of if a buyer got a really good deal they are accused of ripping off the seller, if the buyer paid a high price then the seller is accused of ripping off the buyer. I have seen it happen, it only makes for hard feelings down the road. When I buy something expensive the sale price is something that I do not like to talk about, good or bad. If the deal was made it was a price that both parties felt was a good enough deal at the time.
Gary N. Posted October 10, 2013 #5 Posted October 10, 2013 This gives a pretty good idea of what they should be worth. http://www.nadaguides.com/Motorcycles Ultimately it's what ever two people agree too.
CaptainJoe Posted October 10, 2013 Author #6 Posted October 10, 2013 flyinfool_ that's why i said voluntary Gary N. from NADA for a 2007 midnight venture Suggested List Price Low Retail Average Retail Base Price $17,399 $8,030 $10,565 Options: (change) AM/FM Radio/CD/Aux w/Speakers $231 $388 CB Radio $68 $110 Engine Guards (Chrome) $48 $64 Cruise Control $30 $45 Fairing-Full $213 $284 Saddle Bags (Pair) $243 $283 Travel Trunk w/Rack $54 $72 TOTAL PRICE: $17,399 $8,917 $11,811 11,811 retail -8,917 trade-in ----------------- 2,894 / 2 = 1447 1,447 +8,917 --------- 10,364 This is what I would expect to get from my 07. I would keep it, if i couldn't and let the prospective buyer go to the dealer and pay another $1500, for the same bike... Granted, you probably won't get this price right now, but in the spring you will. The extras probably won't add significantly to value, unless you take them off and sell for 40%-50% of what you paid... some dealers take extras off their trade-ins and sell on ebay... That way, hopefully, they can sell you new bling when you buy the bike from them. These prices on NADA seem a little high? The Venture comes standard with all the options I selected??? Based on the going price for simular, bikes I would have thought closer to 9K.
