Guest tx2sturgis Posted October 14, 2013 #26 Posted October 14, 2013 Just for info... This was posted by one of the Dnepr guys from the UK, in reference to this Dnepr 300 trike: "It's already been stated that the lighting is standard and so is the rest of the trike. It is based on the MT11 model which started production circa 1987 . My thoughts ( for what they are worth) are that it is a 1990's trike, probably the latter half of that decade as it has later valve covers and plastic indicator bodies typical of this period. Electric starters came in sometime in the 2000`s , so it is before then. Some parts such as the headlamp bowl, regulator box and indicators, are often dated during manufacture and can give an idea of the factory assembly year. The logo on the points cover can give an idea of the engine manufacture period also, early OHV bikes has cyrillic script, middle period bikes had 'made in USSR' in English and the factory started to use the interlocking triangle logo about 2000, when they ran out of old stocks. There are many small pointers that all have to be taken into account when dating a Dnepr, especially with older bikes as mix'n'match is common Any talk of military use, or the bike being from 1946 is pure fantasy. This trike was produced after the fall of the Soviet union when Dnepr was struggling to stay alive in the civilian market Hope that helps _________________ Neval BMW/MT11 hybrid, Neval 2wd MT10-36, Neval MT16, another MT11 and an MB650"
uncledj Posted October 14, 2013 Author #27 Posted October 14, 2013 All well and good, but I gotta say, by the looks of the rubber seals and parts, if it's a 96 they musta' used some poor quality rubber. I have a Ford 800 tractor / backhoe, which, by serial # I can tell was made in '57 and some of the original rubber parts on it look to be in better shape than the seals around the pushrod tubes on this trike. The numbers don't lie, and I believe what the experts say, but, knowing nothing about these machines....it looks a LOT older than a '96.

The Dneprs probably DID use some sub-par components...and maybe it sat outside in heavy rain for some of its life...hard to say really...OTOH, maybe it IS a lot older than the paperwork. Maybe thats when it was titled in the USA. Without original documentation, the state DMV may have required it to reflect the current year it was titled in the US. Who knows... Well the other potential buyer has stated on the SS board that he will pass on the purchase, so I guess it's back up for grabs! Thanks again for the close-up look-see.
