I took my bike to a car wash to get fire extinguisher agent off. That stuff causes corrosion pretty quick. But anyway after rinsing off the engine I tried to start it with no luck. It cranks and is getting fuel. I tried some starting fluid and still no start. I let things dry out for a few hours and still no start. Any suggestions?:depressed:

didn't happen to hit it by accident did you? I know, it is usually one of the first things one would check...I also know how many of us have been embarrassed by overlooking it!:confused24:

It's not the cutoff switch, also I tried 2 other TCI's.

I did that to the '93 when I first got it, and the dang thing wouldn't start for 3 weeks. Probably flooded the TCI.....

If the connector from the pick-up coils got soaked, the signal from the P-U coils may be interrupted.

Check the fuse block and associated electrics under the faux tank cover. Spray some water displacer (WD40).

I must have missed something. Why did the bike have fire extinguisher agent on it that had to be cleaned off? :detective:

It had a fire a few weeks ago. I thought I got most of it off right after it happened, but that stuff is everywhere. I fixed a couple of burned wires and was up and running and wanted to put some high pressure in the area because it causes corrosion.

This is usually responsible for rough running after a carwash but the recessed plug sockets can get water inside and then when heat from the engine turns that water to steam the plugs are shunted to ground by steam rising into the plug wire heads. If you suspect this, pull plug wires off of plugs and blow out sockets and plug wire heads with compressed air until dry dry dry.

I did get it to start yesterday. It ran rough and I had to keep the throttle open. If i used the choke it would stall. I was going to adjust the idle screw to keep it running but it wouldn't restart, so I trailered it home. Today I changed all 4 plugs they were fouled, but it still wouldn't start. I am checking connectors and coils for water. Anyone have any other ideas?:depressed:

Where is that connector located?
