gez Posted October 4, 2013 #1 Posted October 4, 2013 Went out to go for a ride at 3:15 pm and found my Venture had been knocked over. Wife left the house an hour and a half before me, all was fine. Possibly the neighbors don't like the Road King mufflers?
MiCarl Posted October 4, 2013 #2 Posted October 4, 2013 More likely someone backed into it, knocking it over. BUMMER! Any surveillance cameras around?
ragtop69gs Posted October 4, 2013 #3 Posted October 4, 2013 Well that SUCKS ! I'm with Carl on this one, are there any marks on the back or left side that would indicate someone hitting it ?
Eck Posted October 4, 2013 #4 Posted October 4, 2013 As Micarl mentioned.. I would definitely investigate to see if there are any cameras around... Possible wind gust, but the cameras would remove all doubt on how it happened.
gez Posted October 4, 2013 Author #5 Posted October 4, 2013 No wind today. Unfortunately, no cameras. The house next door is vacant, no one regularly uses the space next to where the bike was parked. This is the worst of the damage. That won't buff out!!!!!!!!!!!!!
aharbi Posted October 4, 2013 #6 Posted October 4, 2013 Takes a bit of "effort" to knock it over on the right side. Kickstand didn't fail. Sorry to see that happen.
Evan Posted October 4, 2013 #7 Posted October 4, 2013 So sorry for you. It upsets me just to see the picture.
brd7666 Posted October 4, 2013 #8 Posted October 4, 2013 That's a shame. There's no way it fell over on its own. I hope you find who did it.
BlueBeard Posted October 5, 2013 #9 Posted October 5, 2013 Remember when someone would leave a note with their name and number after hitting your vehicle.
Nemo Posted October 5, 2013 #10 Posted October 5, 2013 A few years ago, a group of us were spending the night at a hotel. I had an alarm system on my bike and during the night it went off. I jumped up, yelled down the hallway and we all went rushing out to the parking lot. The guys in the car saw us, backed up and drove off. They had tipped over 8 of the bikes, with mine being the worse because they tipped it over on the left side, busting off the windshield. So, I know how you feel! Nothing worse than having someone pick on your pride and joy bike! Probably nothing more than an act of jealously. We feel sorry for you!

Venturous Randy Posted October 5, 2013 #12 Posted October 5, 2013 Been there done that. I was at work and someone came in and told me my bike had been knocked over. The idiot that did it denied it, but fortunately for me, there was a camera on the company property that recorded it. After they finally admitted it, their insurance, State Farm, sent a rep out and looked at the bike. They ended up totaling it and gave me $3,264 after they sold it back to me for $200. I straightened the fairing braces that were bent to one side and did some touch up painting and was good to go. It was still a painful experience but in reality, that was over half again what I had paid for the bike back in 96 and I am still riding the bike. I hope you can get your situation worked out. RandyA
Guest Posted October 5, 2013 #13 Posted October 5, 2013 Just a random thought but did you have the steering locked? From the pics it looks like the forks are facing right. I always park with my forks left and the ignition in the lock position. It puts the most weight on the side stand and makes it harder to lift. I say this because when I had my 1st gen and I had parked it on Main St during bike week I had the forks facing right. Someone backing their bike into a space next to mine tapped the bike and it tumbled over fairly easy.

I am starting to think this was possibly done by kids getting off the school bus.
cabreco Posted October 6, 2013 #15 Posted October 6, 2013 There is NO WAY wind could EVER knock these bikes onto it's starboard side off the side stand...ok maybe in a cat 4 hurricane. You got punked! Locking the steering is always a good idea also a cheapy alarm with a motion/shock sensor ($50 buck on amazon) would have gone off before they had time to drop her. If it were kids they might have run off beforehand or at least neighbors may have noticed who did it. Hopefully you don't have much damage. I would guess a ballzy kid thought he could sit on it and had no concept of the weight of anything bigger than his moped of dirt bike.
