Black wing Posted October 3, 2013 #1 Posted October 3, 2013 so i just did a huge audio upgrade on the bike 5 1/4" speakers, amp, whole nine yards, now the problem that's been perplexing me is that the amp keeps kicking out, i can rev it to any RPM and it will stay on but if i crack the throttle it shuts off. i took a multi meter to my battery to look for anything weird and found 1000 RPM 13 - 13.5 V 3000 Rpm and up 14 - 14.3 reved the bag off of it and then let the throttle snap shut 14.5 V or so wasn't seeing any real spikes or anything out of the ordinary any ideas?
Black wing Posted October 4, 2013 Author #3 Posted October 4, 2013 naw direct hook up to the battery and i can grab the harnes and yamk it around without issue its only while the bike is running, And the rectifier wires are souldered not on a plug
Dano Posted October 4, 2013 #4 Posted October 4, 2013 At 1000 r's, 13-13.5 is good. Does it ramp up with throttle or just snap to 14.3 at 3k? Going to 14.5 is because the coils aren't having to fire, lessening the amperature needed.
Black wing Posted October 4, 2013 Author #5 Posted October 4, 2013 it rises with the rpm stopping at its peak of 14 and then slowly upping to 14.3 if the rpm is held steady for a while
bongobobny Posted October 4, 2013 #6 Posted October 4, 2013 Try a big capacitor across the power amp...
Black wing Posted October 4, 2013 Author #7 Posted October 4, 2013 well still dont know what was causing it but the gremlin seems to have gotten bored over night and left . i'll post a built tread later for anyone else who is thinking about getting some more sound
