Good day.

I am new to the forum so I appologize if this is not the correct place for this question. Yesterday I became a happy new owner of a 2007 venture. Traded in my reliable C50 and so far while I miss her, I could not be happier.

With a new bike comes the never ending list of new toys to add to it. I am looking into getting the wired head set to use with the cb radio and communicate to the passenger. Any recommendation?

Thank you!

Yamaha sells the J&M version with their name on it. I bought mine at http://www.sierra-mc.com/

They have a couple of different models depending on how much you want to spend. I have used both the entry level units and the high end ones. You get what you pay for. Entry level is good enough for communications only but lacks a little on the music end.

Other folks here have used and recommend http://www.edsets.com/

After my careful consideration, I went with the Edsets and could not be happier. It has an RCA jack for the Mic, and speakers as well as a plug in for your Fav Ear Buds, and you can use them at the same time! So, one headset, you can listen tot he speakers and a passenger to the ear buds. Not to mention you can extend the wires, I put the Edset unit in the Pouch behind my back rest, have just the mic and the ear buds going up to my Half helmet. Unit plugged into the passenger outlet to diminish wire clutter!

And at 80 MPH they say I sound great on the CB, you'll just have to spend a LOT of time trying to convince them that it is you and you REALLY are on a motorcycle!

EDSETS even sells Just the Ear bud plugs for the Bike.

EDSETS were the choice for the Record Breaking trip around the world.

http://www.edsets.com/ You won't believe what they offer! All sorts of stuff and adapters and ways to hook up GPS, Phone, so on.

J&M

I purchased IMC and had to return them a few times so I went with J&M

IMC every set had the same issue 4 out of 5 sets the wire did not hold up

I have the entry level J&M jobs. If to do over again I would probably invest in the priceyer ones. I may try edsets in the future. I built myself an adapter so I can run earbuds along with or without the headsets. My shorty helmet dont have a mic so I run the earbuds.

In theory I kind of like this but haven't bought it yet. Let me know if you do?

I think this brings up a huge info blank into the question of... What headset do I get?

I think info on what helmet you wear is very important information to help with the choice. I have Scala Rider Bluetooth in my full face because the J&M sets do not fit into the full face with out altering the inside, which I do not wish to do.

You bring up a great point. My helmet choice varies depending on the distance and the temperature. For long distance and/or winter riding I have a Shark evoline. It is heavy as a rock so I also have a Bell 500 and a skid lid shorty for hot days.

The one that looks best is the edset g3 but was not able to find the one for the venture on the site. I didn't think there would be differences based on the bike.

I am on the cheapo side so not sure I'll go with it since I would have to get two.
