New to the forum and to Ventures.

I own a 83 that needs a little work. Some times it runs fine and some times it seems to misfire on #1 cylinder and will not idle. The next day its fine. Also every now and agian when I turn on the ignition I get what sounds like a rush of air from the area of the top of the engine, under the air box. The PO said he had been riding it a little this summer but I think it sat more than he is letting on.

Thanks in advance for any help

I did the Sea-Foam soak the past couple days. It seems to have worked. While the carbs were soaking I checked the plug wires and found one end bad, so I put all new wires on and cleaned the ends. I moved the TCI to the top of the airbox and cleaned the contacts. Its firing on all four now. Seems to be runnng fine now but still no idea what the air sound is or where it is coming from. This site is the BEST... Many thanks to Yammer-Dan

I would look into the #1 exhaust/head junction... the gaskets are known to wear and if the rotation is right, you could darned well hear it escape the gasket as #1 came up on the exhaust stroke... running, the total sound rather masks it...
