Bert2006 Posted September 29, 2013 #1 Posted September 29, 2013 Was comparing speedometer with gps today and the bike is alway's about 10 km/hr slower than what the gps reads. Thats about a 4 mph difference in...mph. Is this a frequent thing with the second gen? Thanks
Brake Pad Posted September 29, 2013 #2 Posted September 29, 2013 yep, thats right, if your doing 70 MPH, your really doing 66
Guest tx2sturgis Posted September 29, 2013 #4 Posted September 29, 2013 Yes...and a Speedohealer can make it all better again.
Phoneman1981 Posted September 29, 2013 #5 Posted September 29, 2013 Yes. Mine is off as much as 7 mph at 65 mph. Not off as much at slower speeds. If my speedometer shows 72 then I am right on 65. Something I have gotten used to. Many owners use GPS, much more acurate.

Thats about a 4 mph difference in...mph. Is this a frequent thing with the second gen? This is common with most Japanese made bikes, as much as 8 to 10% higher speed reading on the clock than what you're actually doing.. So at least you know that when you're cruising down the Trans Can at 120 kph on the clock you'll never get pulled over for speeding I use my GPS for speed monitoring as the speedo on it is easier to visually located than looking down on the bike's speedo. I had in the past installed a Speedo Healer to calibrate the speedometer on the bike but removed it when I realized it was under reading the distance by a noticeable marging of around 7%. For me, an accurate ODO was more important than an accurate speedo, especially since I used the GPS for speed monitoring..
Bert2006 Posted September 29, 2013 Author #7 Posted September 29, 2013 Ok once again thanks for the quick responses and good advice.
Kirby Posted September 29, 2013 #8 Posted September 29, 2013 I installed a Speedohealer on my bike a couple of months ago and love it! I just figure the 7.9% back in when checking mileage or mpg's.
