I forgot to tell you all. I went to Bikes Blues and BBQ last weekend and the Yamaha factory truck was there doing the test ride thing. They had all the same boring bikes they've been trying to push for some time now. I mentioned to the head guy there that it is sad that Yamaha has decided to abandon the full dresser market. I told him I don't understand Yamaha's strategy. Lets say a person starts at a young age riding yamaha dirt bikes, then graduates to street bikes as he gets to be an adult, then as he's become a Yamaha loyalist, he is forced, when he gets to the point that he wants to tour this great country, to look at another brand because Yamaha doesn't seem to care enough to provide an updated touring bike and keep their loyal customers.

 

His response was for me to not go anywhere yet. He said he knows for a fact that Yamaha is doing a redesign on the Venture. He said he knows people that have seen the prototype, and it will be very nice.

 

I told him with all do respect, Yada, Yada, Yada, Yamaha loyalists have heard this too many times before.

You mean I will have to buy an after market, fits in the trunk, takes up lots of space, cassette deck to play the Moody Blues cassette I finally found!!!!!! Oh the Agony!!! Wonder if the new design looks like a sport bike with clutch side heated handle bar. :whistling::backinmyday:

Hmmm, 2000cc V6 FI, with ABS, shaft drive, full fixed fairing, built in GPS, heated grips, heated seat, adjustable height vented windshield, bluetooth compatible, high powered sound system plus the usual stuff like cruise and CB might make it interesting...

That would be awesome! And we all know Yamaha has the know how to pull it off. It comes down to do they have the "want to"?

Hmmm, 2000cc V6 FI, with ABS, shaft drive, full fixed fairing, built in GPS, heated grips, heated seat, adjustable height vented windshield, bluetooth compatible, high powered sound system plus the usual stuff like cruise and CB might make it interesting...

 

 

And my wife would probly beat me, but I'd probly buy one. A lower CG would be kinda nice too...but don't want integrated brakes. Front should mean front, and rear should mean rear.

I've seen that bike you described only it had Goldwing emblems on it!!! Maybe Yamaha owns Goldwing???:whistling:

:stirthepot: Too much motor, screw ABS, rather choose my own GPS, heated stuff? , and don't care for having a CB really.

Which just goes to show the problem manufacturers have. Can't make everybody happy.

My perfect Venture has the 1300 with EFI tuned for torque and mileage, de linked brakes and no ABS, full fixed fairing with some wind tunnel testing so it doesn't affect triple digit handling, vented shield, stereo with bluetooth and POWERFUL sound,and cruise. Enough electrical power for lights and stuff.

:backinmyday: Other than the EFI I can get most of that accomplished with my antique. I've said a time or 2 that I would rather put a ton of cash into an older rig to make it liveable in the real world. My 1st Gen may finally be the vehicle that makes me put my money where my mouth is. I'm just lovin' it more with every mile.

Like stated, you start out riding Yamaha as a kid and stick to the brand. And in my years with Yamaha I have learned a couple things for sure. Yamaha doesn't talk about what their doing and it seems forever for them to make changes. But when they finally do, the product has been tested and tested ready for the public to go out and TRY to destroy, which they can't.

So I hope this bit of news is true, cause I ready for the next generation.

Another thing that kinda makes me go huh. At the rally, Yamaha, Victory, Harley, and Indian were there with their corporate bikes letting people do test rides.

 

Victory, Harley, and Indian were set up where all you had to do was have them scan your license, put a few entry's into an iPad and you were ready to wait on a bike to ride. Very high tech feeling and looking. Very streamline operations, with plenty of bikes to ride.

 

At the Yamaha event, you had to sit down with a clip board and a long ass form to fill out, and then go through two different peoples approval to get in the que to ride. AND, they had so few bikes that it was an eternity to wait on a bike. It felt so archaic and slow. Very embarrassing.

Also...adjustable driver and passenger seat, adjustable tour pack, side opening tour pack lots of led lights and markers. And most important to you and I, A factory trike! All though I probably couldn't afford it.

Don't forget the cassette player!!! That's an iconic Venture item to have!! It just wouldn't be a Venture without it!!!!:backinmyday:

My time at the rally was short, so I didnt want to waste time waiting in lines, just to ride a bike that I really cant afford anyway.

 

The new Indians sure looked good!

My thoughts:

Keep the V-4, make it FI and maybe bore out to 1700cc keeping gas mileage in mind.

Yes, ABS and traction control, if you've ever used it on a bike you'll understand.

Heated grips, yes. Heated seat an option. Power ports for both driver and passenger.

Power adjustable windshield, bluetooth, AM,FM,Weather,Traffic, USB plug for MP3 USB memory stick and MP3 players, no CB but FRS/GMRS radio capable via bluetooth. Previsions for a GPS I want to use my own. If it came with the bike they would use lowest bidder and you'd end up with a Honda-Goldwing-like brain dead GPS. Agree with full fixed fairing. ALL LED lighting. Air adjustable suspension (front/rear), Shaft drive, water cooled. Full hard luggage. Side loading top case. top loading side bags.

 

Would be interested but not sure how they would do it:

adjustable driver and passenger seat, adjustable tour pack, reverse gear.

 

What is interesting is that all of this exists today. Just not in one bike. And I want it to look like a "bagger", weigh less than a Goldwing.
