Galapagos Posted September 27, 2013 #1 Posted September 27, 2013 I am looking to move after retirement. Anybody ever live around Paducha Ky? They have brown trout and rainbows. I like to fish.
Brake Pad Posted September 27, 2013 #2 Posted September 27, 2013 its nice riding area, I came up through there on my way to the 2013 IR, I stayed in Calvert City, just down the road. the city of Paducah, KY is a busy town. you'll find great fishing out at Land Between the lakes. in Grand River
Bob Myers Posted September 27, 2013 #3 Posted September 27, 2013 For fishing the area is tops of the whole state, plus Memphis is close enough for the jazz and blues and Owensboro is also close enough to easily ride over for best BBQ in the region. They have a BBQ festival there every year.
Long Tall Posted September 27, 2013 #4 Posted September 27, 2013 For fishing the area is tops of the whole state, plus Memphis is close enough for the jazz and blues and Owensboro is also close enough to easily ride over for best BBQ in the region. They have a BBQ festival there every year. I lived three hours East of there for 26 years. Fishing, Hunting, Camping place to be. Land Between the Lakes is "GREAT". Just south of there is Real Foot Lake in TN. Great Fishing Hopkinsville, KY very near there was once listed in the top ten places to retire. Cost of living, activities, etc. Kentucky and Barkley Lakes are both 50, 000 acre impoundments. Top 5 places in the country for crappie fishing. The spillway below the dams hold the trout, Browns and Rainbows. I have caught a few of them back in the day. Just saying....When you retire there, can I rent a room on the weekends now and then? Long Tall Lynchburg, VA
Galapagos Posted October 2, 2013 Author #5 Posted October 2, 2013 Thanks for the replies. This year vacation is Kentucky. Next year maybe North Carolina to check it out.
sandman Posted October 2, 2013 #6 Posted October 2, 2013 Geo; I,m sure Ky is nice but steelhead alley is here in west mi. And salmon are still running. Fall stealheading just pickin up. Plus you get six months to work on bike and save on insurance. You also get to pay alot more for everything so Mi must be better.
Monty Posted October 2, 2013 #7 Posted October 2, 2013 If you love fishing, this is the place to live. http://parislanding.com/ It's about 45 minutes Southeast of Paducah.
guns_usn_20 Posted October 2, 2013 #8 Posted October 2, 2013 I live in Lexington, LBL is a great place to camp and fish. Great riding all over the state too. Jim
