Auld Posted September 26, 2013 #1 Posted September 26, 2013 I've been here off and on over a few years, and I always find it so difficult to find 1st Generation Tech Help. I've been there before, but I don't understand why it is so difficult to find. I keep looking at the left column hoping to see something, but No. I have an electrical question about my 1983 XVZ12TK, but I don't know where to post it.
Freebird Posted September 26, 2013 #2 Posted September 26, 2013 I don't really understand why you find it difficult. It is "First Generation Venture Tech Talk". What can I do to make it easier?
MidlifeVenture Posted September 26, 2013 #3 Posted September 26, 2013 Click the Forum tab, top left lower row look under tech talk
Freebird Posted September 26, 2013 #4 Posted September 26, 2013 Or...just click on this link and then add it to your bookmarks. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=8
k9cottage Posted September 26, 2013 #5 Posted September 26, 2013 on the left in the main menu click on VRTECH
Yammer Dan Posted September 26, 2013 #6 Posted September 26, 2013 Post a question in the right place?? Gee what a original idea....
Flyinfool Posted September 26, 2013 #7 Posted September 26, 2013 on the left in the main menu click on VRTECH The VRTech link on the left gets you to the read only tech section. To post a question you want the "First Generation Venture Tech Talk". Go to "Forums" in either the "Main Menu" on the left of the screen or the tab at the top left of the screen second row. Scroll down to the "Tech Talk" (second section down) and there you will find the "First Generation Venture Tech Talk" to post your question.
etcswjoe Posted September 26, 2013 #8 Posted September 26, 2013 I usally google what I am looking for using "what I am looking for SITE:venturerider.org" and if I want to narrow it down I will put first generation or second generation after it. 9 times out of 10 I will find what I am looking for.
noahzark Posted September 26, 2013 #9 Posted September 26, 2013 Hhhhmmmm, did we just prove his point? Do what Yammer suggests, post it wherever you want; the moderators are very good about moving things to where they need to be.
MiCarl Posted September 26, 2013 #10 Posted September 26, 2013 Here's where I think you're having trouble: When you go to http://www.venturerider.org you're not quite in the forum. You're on a landing page that shows you many things, including recent posts from the forum. To get to a the forum proper you need to choose "Forum" at the top left. There you'll see the bulletin board format I think you're probably looking for.
Auld Posted September 28, 2013 Author #11 Posted September 28, 2013 Well, I got there. I was frustrated and in a hurry. And maybe even stupid. I got there and searched and found the answer to my question: What does the Reserve Lighting Unit do? Now I understand it, and I see that my problem is NOT the RLU but soldering on the CMU, which is almost always the problem on a 30-yo bike, isn't it? Maybe I'll just aim my blow torch at the CMU and do all the solder joints in one blow. Or maybe I won't.
Flyinfool Posted September 28, 2013 #12 Posted September 28, 2013 Maybe I'll just aim my blow torch at the CMU and do all the solder joints in one blow. Or maybe I won't. We will need pics AND video of this one...........
Yammer Dan Posted September 29, 2013 #13 Posted September 29, 2013 We will need pics AND video of this one........... Before the Fire!!!:rotfl:
Flyinfool Posted September 29, 2013 #14 Posted September 29, 2013 Before the Fire!!!:rotfl: Before during AND after.
Guest tx2sturgis Posted September 29, 2013 #15 Posted September 29, 2013 I always find it so difficult to find 1st Generation Tech Help. I've been there before, but I don't understand why it is so difficult to find. That's a 'feature'...
