djh3 Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 Hey fellow riders. The wife and I are planning a stay up in the area again this fall. We are staying in Lake Lure with a friend. I am planning on taking a day to go up the Maggie Valley way. I want to go to the Wheels Through Time museum. I sort of guessed 3 hours or so for the museum. Is that about right.
86er Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 I would say 3 hours would be a minimum if you really want to see things. It's not quite as expansive as Barber, but Dale has a lot of stuff that will take you time to process!
Beau-Kat Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 I've been there a few times. Unfortunately, each time I had led a large group of riders there and had a lot of time constraints on me to get everyone back to camp on time. I am a gear-head and wanted to thoroughly look at everything in the place:detective:. If I were you, I would plan at least 4 or 5 hours there. If someone with you gets bored, they can go get ice cream up the street while you finish looking. When I was there we were told that all but about 6 bikes in there would run. The owner, Dale Walksler, will often crank up bikes and give parking lot demonstrations for you. He's a real cool, "motorcycles in his blood" kinda guy. Have a good visit.
djh3 Posted September 26, 2013 Author Posted September 26, 2013 Thanks now I got a ball park figure I think.
Kirby Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 Yea, Dale oftentimes fires one of the older models up and burns rubber up and down the isles. It's hilarious! You'll really like the place if you're into old HARLEYS and INDIANS. They'be also got some old cars and trucks on display.
