Yammer Dan Posted September 24, 2013 #2 Posted September 24, 2013 If anyone has an extra CLASS controller for an 87 VR I would be interested in purchasing. Please PM. Thanks. Good Luck!! I just paid 86 bucks for one for my 86 and it pushed me into a decision that cost me a BUNCH more!!
bongobobny Posted September 24, 2013 #3 Posted September 24, 2013 Any MK2 ('86 - '93) will work, does not have to specifically be from an '87. What is wrong with yours??
Donvito Posted September 25, 2013 Author #4 Posted September 25, 2013 I intend to attempt to repair my controller tomorrow. I would just like to have a plan B if repairs don't go well.
Yammer Dan Posted September 25, 2013 #5 Posted September 25, 2013 (edited) Don't get your feathers ruffled. Just telling you good ones are hard to come by. And was wishing you good luck finding one. I went to E-Bay to look but nevermind. No I ain't selling the one I just got. Just trying to help. Guess I should stay in corner but that ain't happening in this lifetime!! I apologize if I misunderstood you. I thought your "good luck" was meant sarcastically. I belong to this site to obtain help and to give help when I can. I know you've given out lots of good advice in the past. No hard feelings?

GI Joe Posted May 9, 2014 #12 Posted May 9, 2014 Hi guys, I have a 84 VR that has been in storage over 11 years. It started as a bucket of rust but now, after a few months of replacing parts, cleaning, sanding and repainting, it's getting closer to road worthy. I had a 83 Venture for 23 years. The best bike I've ever had, and I've had a few. When I saw this one for a couple hundred, I jumped on it. There have been a few times when I thought I could never restore it to the road. But now, I think it might happen. The engine and bike only has 27,000 miles and the engine runs great. Reminds me of that great bike I had before. Wish me luck, I love these bikes. Joe Bye the way, I am a retired Electrical Engineer and think I may be able to fix this controller if I had a schematic.
paysaw Posted May 10, 2014 #13 Posted May 10, 2014 I have an extra working one.I did a fix on mine via the help files.Sometimes your cant save them but it is worth the attempt.
Ben Rollins Posted May 10, 2014 #14 Posted May 10, 2014 Mine doesn't work but I was told it's a hose that I need. I always get e codes when I plug it in.

At the cable from the unit, about 6 inches to a plug. That plug is notorious for developing bad solder connections !! Tug on All the wires both sides of plugs, most likely you will find one that will pull right out of the plug assembly !!! Re-solder it into position, Check ALL of the wires !!!

Wire carry electricity, hoses carry fluids or gasses...I'm confused.
