dwatson636 Posted September 21, 2013 #1 Posted September 21, 2013 My wife a and I just returned from our first big ride on the RSTD. We went from Denver to Phoenix and back. Went down to visit my first Grandson. Two day ride both ways with 1720 miles covered. It was the most fun we have had in a long time. The bike performed almost flawlessly with the exception of some backfiring above 11,000 feet and it didn't like the heat in Phoenix with the oil I had in it from Denver. But it rode great and I found a sweet spot at around 75 mph with the cruise on. I am looking forward to going elsewhere next year.
Condor Posted September 21, 2013 #2 Posted September 21, 2013 You certainly bit off a chunk for your first LD trip two up Dave... Glad you and the wife had fun. Denver's a great place to ride to and ride from....

dwatson636 Posted September 21, 2013 Author #4 Posted September 21, 2013 Lots of flooding up here in Colorado. No fires though. Also we saw the aftermath of some flooding in Aztec and Farmington NM.

Mike G in SC Posted September 22, 2013 #11 Posted September 22, 2013 Just read the first part of your post to my wife,,, jaw drop at 1750 miles in two days. And pic of STOCK SEAT. Your wife is obviously not a spoiled lady. You just took a giant step on the Road Warrior scale. Mike G.
Evan Posted September 22, 2013 #12 Posted September 22, 2013 Sounds like a great first ride: good roads, good miles, good passenger and the real bonus, a new grandson. WOW!
etcswjoe Posted September 22, 2013 #13 Posted September 22, 2013 Sounds like yall had fun and here is wishing you many more.
dwatson636 Posted September 22, 2013 Author #14 Posted September 22, 2013 First off, it was 1710 miles total. We went about 400 miles a day. 2 days down to Phoenix and 2 days back to Denver. 3 days in Phoenix. Just a little riding there. The front seat is the stock seat with the Butler mod. The pillion is a Mustang seat with the Butler mod.
