CFox0045 Posted September 13, 2013 #1 Posted September 13, 2013 Having a problem with a 2006 RSTD. Changed rear tire and greased splines. I am almost positive I have the drive shaft lined up, when you rotate the diff and check in the access hole on the drive shaft the u joint is turning without binding. Got everything back together and when I stared the bike and put it in gear, it just shut down and will not restart until put back in neutral. Any ideas what may be I may have done wrong? Is there a trick to make lining up the drive shaft to the u-joint easier? Thanks.
hillrider Posted September 13, 2013 #2 Posted September 13, 2013 Any chance the side stand switch got fubared?
M61A1MECH Posted September 13, 2013 #3 Posted September 13, 2013 Sounds like the side stand switch thinks the side stand is down.
k9cottage Posted September 13, 2013 #4 Posted September 13, 2013 is it on the lift with the sidestand still down
spike13 Posted September 14, 2013 #5 Posted September 14, 2013 Bet it has something to do with the sidestand
CFox0045 Posted September 14, 2013 Author #6 Posted September 14, 2013 Will check later today. Thanks for the help.
CFox0045 Posted September 14, 2013 Author #7 Posted September 14, 2013 Had a idiot moment I guess, it was the side stand. Had the bike on the lift and was trying to start and put it into gear, my old bike did not have the safety switch on the side stand. Thanks again for the help.
M61A1MECH Posted September 14, 2013 #8 Posted September 14, 2013 Commonly known as Brain Fade, happens to all of us, just wait till you accidentally bump the kill switch to the off position, that can take days to troubleshoot, don't ask me how I know that one is true.
