MasterGuns Posted September 11, 2013 #1 Posted September 11, 2013 I have had this new to me 92 for about a month now and am still going through it entirely. Today was for checking all the TCI connections to ensure they are all clean and connecting properly. To my surprise once I removed the battery and its holder and air cleaner, exposing the TCI, rather than the connectors being connected with a male/female holder, the harness connection is just pushed into the TCI. There is no clip that locks in either of the connectors. This simply cannot be right. What am I missing here? Shouldn't there be some sort of a locking device that ensures the connector is attached firmly? There is nothing in any parts list that I can see. Help please.
Squidley Posted September 12, 2013 #2 Posted September 12, 2013 Herb, Unless the locking tab is broken, or it's a different TCI, I really dont have a good answer for you. Are you wanting to relocate the TCI on top of the air box or are you going to leave it in it's stock position?
dingy Posted September 12, 2013 #3 Posted September 12, 2013 I have seen several 1st gen TCI's and none of them had any provision for securly locking connectors into the TCI. There would have too be a tab of some sort on the TCI box and the 10 or so I have seen have no sign of any. Gary
mbrood Posted September 15, 2013 #4 Posted September 15, 2013 If you are that worried about it, you can run a thin line of Plastic Tape at the mated joint. It goes on like RTV but later on it can simply peeled right off, clean.
VentureYZ Posted September 15, 2013 #5 Posted September 15, 2013 I took two small nylon tywraps and run them around the connector in two places, no way it can come apart.
