vzuden Posted September 9, 2013 #26 Posted September 9, 2013 "Don't have to.... she has them hanging from her rearview mirror." She has mine hanging from the receiver hitch of her truck:confused24:
Eck Posted September 9, 2013 #27 Posted September 9, 2013 cut a piece of gas line hose about 2 inches long and slide it on over the threads.. it holds the seat on. You can easily pull down on the hose to remove it from the seat bolt when you want to remove the seat...

She has mine hanging from the receiver hitch of her truck:confused24:[/quote this just don't sound right. How did Robin get your nuts?! She doesn't have a receiver hitch or a truck! ROBIN YOU HAVE SOME SPLANIN TO DO!
Yammer Dan Posted September 9, 2013 #30 Posted September 9, 2013 This one had me worried til I saw they were being put on trailers and I realized it must be a 2nd Gen Thread!!! Had me scared for a while:whistling:

steamer Posted September 9, 2013 #32 Posted September 9, 2013 Blame Bongobob for this. He hijacked your thread.
IronMike Posted September 9, 2013 #33 Posted September 9, 2013 I don't have any nuts, I installed rubber grommets , the threads sink down into them and the seat will not come up without some force, it goes right back down and gets tighter as you sit on it. Having a Roadstar as the other bike it just made sense this modification just HAD to be done. As Roadstar seats pop up like a trunk with the turn of the key.
videoarizona Posted October 7, 2015 #34 Posted October 7, 2015 I know this is an old thread. But just ran across it and can't stop laughing! This should be a sticky to show how good the humor is on this forum. (or how sick we are)
eusa1 Posted October 8, 2015 #35 Posted October 8, 2015 tough part about this old thread is that butler has put his nuts on a lot more seats since this thread started, and it's still bongobobs fault if anyone loses a nut over this thread...........
bongobobny Posted October 8, 2015 #36 Posted October 8, 2015 Who, me??? I just call 'em like I see 'em...
eusa1 Posted October 8, 2015 #37 Posted October 8, 2015 uhhm... I have not seen any of these folks nuts or mr butlers butt for that matter... and i'ma keep it that way!
Danaman Posted October 9, 2015 #38 Posted October 9, 2015 I used lock washers and regular nuts, worked just fine. The lock washers are key.
Zzyzx Posted October 9, 2015 #39 Posted October 9, 2015 Lost my nuts a couple years ago. Replaced them with thread couplers from the local hardware store. If you add a dab of the blue stuff on them they stay in place until you want them to go off. These work good and are much cheaper than nuts from Yamama.
StarFan Posted October 9, 2015 #40 Posted October 9, 2015 Funny stumbling upon this thread. I have a 1998 Royal Star Tour Classic II that has a seat lock mechanism that opens with the ignition key. Have been wondering why in the world Yamaha did not continue using this for the Venture. This winter I am going to see if I can convert this to work on my Corbin seat on my 2000 Venture. I am pretty sure it can be done without to much trouble. I´ll keep you posted.
WildBill1 Posted October 10, 2015 #41 Posted October 10, 2015 Yea, I agree Yamaha is proud of their nuts. I used SS tall acorn nuts.
steamer Posted October 11, 2015 #42 Posted October 11, 2015 Like I said 2 years ago, Don't have no nuts any more and my seat is still on the bike. Its a lot easier to work on the bike without having to pull my nuts off to get to the battery. Just saying.
