ArcsSparks Posted February 24, 2008 #1 Posted February 24, 2008 On my last bike I spent 336.00 for a light bar just wasn't going to do it this time. so after a little thought this is what I came up with Platnium Burners $16.95 Kury 1" Clamps $19.95 ea Billet switch $34.00 (more than I wanted to spend but first switch wouldn't fit, do-dad switch) Roll of hose cover $5.95 1/4" acorn nuts $2.95 ea Misc. scrunged wire and connectors free Lights the road real well and fits the look of the bike I think http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l190/Arcs_Sparks/CIMG2660.jpg http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l190/Arcs_Sparks/CIMG2661.jpg http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l190/Arcs_Sparks/CIMG2662.jpg http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l190/Arcs_Sparks/CIMG2663.jpg
flb_78 Posted February 24, 2008 #3 Posted February 24, 2008 Those look really good for not being a factory after market accessory.
karbar99 Posted February 24, 2008 #4 Posted February 24, 2008 "Billet switch $34.00 (more than I wanted to spend but first switch wouldn't fit, do-dad switch)" Question if I may ask, where did you get the switch?
ArcsSparks Posted February 24, 2008 Author #5 Posted February 24, 2008 Scootworks is the name of the place. they're just south of Raleigh NC in the town of Zebulon real good people to do business with. Here is the link to the switch: http://www.scootworks.com/shop.cgi/page=partselectronics.htm/SID=1203852236.3247
Squidley Posted February 24, 2008 #6 Posted February 24, 2008 Nice job, you'd be hard pressed not to know that they aren't stock
kantornado Posted February 25, 2008 #8 Posted February 25, 2008 Same lights I put on mine. They work great too!! One thing though the chrome ring on the front will vibrate loose. I lost the chrome ring this weekend and went back to WM and bought another set so I have spare parts.(in case they do away with them) I am going to drill a small hole on the bottom and put a sheet screw in it. Right now I have loc-tite on the inside and it will hold for awhile but is not a sure fix.................................Ron
foxman Posted February 25, 2008 #9 Posted February 25, 2008 I also put these lights on my scoot and yes I also lost a retainer ring. To make it easier on my stator, I took out the 55 watt bulbs and put in 20 watt.
ArcsSparks Posted February 25, 2008 Author #10 Posted February 25, 2008 my next upgrade is a battery monitor propably the Kury because I also have a 55/100 headlight bulb that's 155 watts low beam (12.9 amps) and 200 watts high beam (16.6 amps) is it me or are motorcycle headlights all less than effective. at nite on low beam it's almost like being blind
Gearhead Posted February 25, 2008 #11 Posted February 25, 2008 I agree. Since a car has two lights, or even four, I guess it's no surprise that a bike has poor lighting. One thing about my VR headlight is that is has a sharp cutoff at the top of the beam which is OK except in corners. When leaned into a corner, the light just doesn't shine far enough around the bend, esp on LO. Jeremy
Alex Posted February 26, 2008 #12 Posted February 26, 2008 Here's my WM lites...Had them on my V-Star as well. The switch box is on the front brake rez...Left switch on, the lamps come on when only my hi-beams are on...right switch constantly on...middle is for the GPS/MP3 player...I do have a wiring diagram if anyone would like a copy...
Uturn Posted March 1, 2008 #13 Posted March 1, 2008 I bought my Wally World lights yesterday. Can you post or send me the wiring diagram? baileyme@cox.net BTW, Many thanks for the sharing the mod and posting. MIKE aka Uturn
KingSizer Posted March 1, 2008 #14 Posted March 1, 2008 those are the IDENTICAL lights i got for my 84vr. i will be mounting them as soon as we get a day where the temperature is decent. i think they should mount easily to the brackets i got from squidley at last years maintenance day at don's. thanks for the info on the outer ring coming loose. i will have to remember that when i mount them. for now the lights are still in the box on my dining room table, right next to the metzler front tire i got as a christmas gift. i think my wife is looking forward to warm weather more than i am.
ArcsSparks Posted March 7, 2008 Author #15 Posted March 7, 2008 uturn I sent you an email but I didn't read that you had a C-50 (thats what I traded for the Royal Star) so you sould use a wire through the switch that is controled by the key other wise you're asking for battery problems I know I killed one by leaving the lights on (Mine was wired straight to the battery by the dealer that installed the light bar)
Carbon_One Posted March 7, 2008 #16 Posted March 7, 2008 Here's a couple pics of my version of the Wally world lights I mounted. Not sure if it was mentioned without looking back thru the posts here but there have been reports on other fourms of the ring retainers coming off and getting lost. The cure for that is to drill a hole in one of the dimples and put in a sheetmetal screw. Stainless # 6 in size if you can find them at your local hardware store. I did that and put the screw on the bottom where it's less noticable. Larry
