Ferrantelli Posted March 8, 2008 #51 Posted March 8, 2008 I use pledge on my bike for the first time yesterday on everything. I can not believe how well it works. Now after Reading the last few post I am begining to worry about my windshield. Oh well if the windshield get damaged by the use of pledge I just have to by a (clear-view) new one.
Freebird Posted March 8, 2008 #52 Posted March 8, 2008 I used Pledge on my stock windshield for a long time and it never hurt it. I've used it on my Clearview for several years now and no damage to it either. You should be just fine.
nkbjones Posted March 8, 2008 #53 Posted March 8, 2008 Does the orange flavor of pledge have the same bee/ insect problem as the lemon variety? I have been using some orange scent over the winter, but have not tried it during the warmer months and do not want to be attracting bees.
SilvrT Posted March 8, 2008 #54 Posted March 8, 2008 Does the orange flavor of pledge have the same bee/ insect problem as the lemon variety? I have been using some orange scent over the winter, but have not tried it during the warmer months and do not want to be attracting bees. I can't answer that question but frankly, I've never found pledge to be the culprit that attracts bees... it's generally the dead bees and other "road kill" objects on the bike that attracts the bees.... Once cleaned off (with pledge), no more bees.
1sttenor Posted March 12, 2008 #55 Posted March 12, 2008 I realize I'm jumpin' in late on this one, but I've been using Pledge (whatever was on the shelf at Wally's) since the 80's for my bikes. An old Winger said he'd been using it on his old 1000 GW for years. It looked like new and it was 12-15 years old. So I took up the torch and have used it without any damage for 20 years on both windshields and body. Just keep it off your seats! Or you'll be singing the old tune "slip slidin' away". FWIW:2cents:
Cottonpkr Posted March 12, 2008 #56 Posted March 12, 2008 Been using Pledge for about 8 or 9 years. No problems. Love the stuff.
timk Posted March 13, 2008 #57 Posted March 13, 2008 Scrubbing Bubbles works good for the nooks and crannies when hand washing your bike. Don't let it dry before rinsing.
Cottonpkr Posted March 13, 2008 #58 Posted March 13, 2008 Thanks Tim, Have to give that scrubbing bubbles a try. 2nd gen ventures got LOTS of nooks and cranny's.
Guest Bar Posted March 14, 2008 #59 Posted March 14, 2008 Hey, I saw Lemon Pledge being used on a TV show (Canadian Motorcycle Trek) and decided to try it on my '07 RSV. Boy, didn't it work great. I have a whole shelf of cleaning products for my ride, but now all I need is a cheap can of Pledge. I used the Anti-Dust one. Apparently Pledge has been used for a long time by people and I have not heard anything negative. My bike shines like showroom now and the dust does not seem to stick to it. Bar
SilvrT Posted March 14, 2008 #60 Posted March 14, 2008 just remembered... used to use Lemon Pledge in my vehicles long before I had scoots with windshields and long before they came out with such "crap" as Armor All. Well, it's good for some things so I guess it ain't "crap"...
geresti Posted March 14, 2008 #61 Posted March 14, 2008 Ok I agree with the pledge but........I use a spray bottle with water and spray a fine mist over whatever I want to clean and let it sit a few minutes and then with a good micro fiber towel I just wipe everything off and looks brand new. Total cost is the price of a good spray bottle. I found a mit made of micro fiber that works even better and if anyone wants one I have the website.. To polish engine bolts I clean them on the grinder and then use a Cape Cod Polishing cloth that is amazing. Makes them shine like chrome. Also used that cloth to polish my axle on my vulcan with chrome like results and the clutch and brake levers. kentuckyrider Posted August 11, 2011 #62 Posted August 11, 2011 The bike I just sold I got new in 03. The only thing I ever used on it was Nascar Fast Wax in a aerosol can. Stuff works great. You could see your reflection about 10 feet away from the bike. Works great on glass, chrome, paint etc. No oxidizing. I buy it from a wrecker company here that was a dealer of it. A friend of mine told me about it. They took me out in the junk yard and sprayed it on a old faded hood. Wipe on and wipe off. No buffing or elbow grease. Restored to a showroom finish. Just went back to get another can and they have a different brand now. Fukon Wax. Seems to work just as good as the other brand.
Royal Star Posted August 11, 2011 #63 Posted August 11, 2011 I also use Lemon Pledge here is San Diego. The Yellow Jackets show up here too. But the stuff works great.
